A cakewalk for Mukasey?

Hearing today; Democrats expect a cruise.

The letters thread is now closed.

Why not?

He's the one who authorized the roundup of all the Muslims after 9/11. I mean, who wouldn't trust a man like that? I wonder why he didn't speak up on rounding up all the Christians after the OK City bombing?

Anyone Bush puts forward will be a criminal, a croney, a hack, and a neocon. Mukasey will shield Bush just like a good party member should. This country is so over. RIP America, 1776-2001.

Pointless

It is pointless to argue about Bush's appointments because he will just continue to taunt Congress sending up people who will accede to eroding our values, our constitution and the true meaning of justice, and he knows Congress doesn't have the energy to fight with him over these hacks in an election season. By now, I think, they've figured out if they don't appoint the first worst candidate, they'll get an even worse one the second time around and it will be downhill from there.

Bush is so clearly just playing with Congress like a feisty cat with an aging mouse. It's sickening. But that's what we have to endure until 08.

Heyjude!

Bush is so clearly just playing with Congress like a feisty cat with an aging mouse. It's sickening. But that's what we have to endure until 08.

Not to get nit-picky, but...... if only you were right, I'd feel a little better.

But, heyjude, bush's term isn't up 'til January 20, 2009!

Sorry

Thanks for the correction. It was a typo. And it might have been wishful thinking.

I thought it may have been wishful thinking!

Sigh.

protection racket

the power structure protects its own. Pure and simple. this was a golden opportunity to leverage profoundly damaging information out of the Justice Department. Instead, the Dems are protecting the system, once again. It is, after all, a system that has nurtured them, too.

I suppose the American Experiment ended a long time ago...but we keep hoping, somehow, that it may be revived. Except, there's nothing to revive. It's a stealth-plutocracy, and always has been. Democracy is camouflage. Remember that, and you'll never be too disappointed.

What an "opposition" party!

With an opposition party like the Democrats, the Bush administration doesn't even need friends or enablers!

Senators pleased with nominee....

It's certainly advantageous to go before a senate softened so completely with six years of partisan apparachniks body blows. And as a successor to a criminal sycophant so entrenched in promoting the chaotic and destructive rule of George W. Bush, it couldn't be easier. Should be good enough. Certainly couldn't be worse.

CAN'T TELL WHO ARE THE PLAYERS WITHOUT A PROGRAM.

I thought Leahy et al were Democrats.
