To be fair. McCain has a total Cash on Hand of almost 3.5 million. Thus, an answer of "We'll pay our debts out of the money we have set aside for the long term" is equivalent to saying "I know I'm not getting the nomination, so I might as well use this money via deficit spending."

The Ron Paul Campaign's frugality reflects the philosophy of the candidate himself and the approach he would take in helping manage the federal budget: no deficit spending, no tax burdens imposed on future generations for current extravagances.
Not only is Ron Paul "sitting prettier" than John McCain in the size of his campaign fund, but the money just keeps rolling in from supporters who like his honesty, style, and message of personal and political liberty, political independence, and fiscal responsibility. According to ronpaulgraphs.com, the Paul campaign has raised almost one million dollars since the beginning of this month.
Come on! Haven't we seen enough of this guy to know what a loser he is?
Does he deserve respect for his military service? Yes sir!
Does he deserve respect for surviving as a POW? Yes sir!
Is he a Republican Neocon Kook, with a fundimentally bankrupt philosophy and really BAD IDEAS?
YES SIR!
Think of all the Klan robes and gay-smiting sticks RP can buy with all that-debt free money.
because he is like the old McCain, speaking what he believes is the truth unfettered by evangelical support or the right wing-nut war supporters. He sort-of reminds me of the "old" McCain, only saner. Sane being, of course, a relative term...

Does this include money for trolls to slander Ron Paul on comments sections of news sites?
I was amused for a while by Ron Pauls surprising fund raising strength. That is until I started coming across repeated ugly endorsements. Seems he is the "darling" of many of the hate and fringe groups. White power, American Nazi, on and on. While I dont accuse him of anything, I haven't heard any rejection of the endorsements or funds that are coming from this element.
Neither are my candidate, but I'd take a broke McCain over Paul any time.
Just like our National Deficit and National Debt!
I see now that I can trust McCain to bankrupt our country just as well as Bush is doing.
Hate to break up the flow of this discussion, but do you have any idea what the term "neoconservative" even means?
Actually, I take that question back. I already know the answer...
Now everyone has to talk about Ron Paul's horrible supporters - like Nazis and the Klan, etc. The same is said about Mearsheimer and Walt - look David Duke liked their book! They have to be terrible!
When you can't attack the person themselves, go after anyone else you can associate them with.
Is anyone else tired of this?
Ron paul sound pretty crazy in the debates. I heard him interviewed on PBS "News Hour". The interveiws on News Hour are the only rational, informative interviews being conducted with the candidates from both parties. I do agree wihthim about Iraq, and through the first quarter of the interview he seemd more reasonable. However as the interview pproressed every question was ansered wiht a statment about Iraa even whenit had no connection to Iraq.
Early in the intrview Paul stated he was in favor of complete freedom, but later when asked about abortion, Ron Paul stated he would get ride of Roe v Wade, then in the next breath he said we can't totally get rid of abortion, and legal abortion is safer, but it should be a state issue and should be regulated. He sad we should get rid of Roe because it allows abortion any time for any reason.
Besides this MIS-informaiton spread by Ron Paul and other republican candidates why are they disregarding women's most basic right-reproductive choice. I wonder how candidaes can even discuss freedom wihtout including women's most basic civil rights and freedom.
Unsafe, Illigal abortions casued lots of deaths and reproductive health issues for women before ROE. Before Roe abortion was legal in some and illlegal in others. Roe made eh laws uniform, andnow tey are being chipped. Under Roe abortion became safe, and legal abortion is regulated under medical laws. Roe does NOT allow abortions for any reason any time in pregnancy. This is the biggest LIE in this debate about abortion.
Smearing Paul supporters is all the haters have. It's the same story with the media, spin the debate so as to conflate Paul and his supporters, such as the "truthers" and the David Dukes out there. Throw in some clever name calling to complete the typical Ron Paul segment.
Yeah, sure, Ron Paul is a racist. Somebody had better tell Walter E. Williams that Paul is a racists so he can pull his endorsement, or somebody had better tell Paul that Williams is a black man and he is supposed to NOT like him, since Paul has been quoted as saying that someone like Williams would make a good running mate.
I guess he also antisemitic because of his foreign policy positions. Just because Paul isn't the property of AIPAC and doesn't support the US fighting wars, spending money, and spilling blood for Israel he will be called a "antisemitic hater of teh jooz!".... Forget about the fact that the only thing he has in his congressional office are framed pictures of Murray Rothbard and Mises, Paul is a jew hater because he hasn't sold his soul to the Lobby.
You're absolutely right about Ron Paul on abortion. Progressives who admire Paul for his stance on Iraq, his "read the Constitution" answer during the "economy debate," etc. should remember that about Ron Paul.
Progressives, Ron Paul is still a kook on some issue and differs greatly from you on certain important positions. I admire the man. I think he's got integrity, which is sorely lacking in the political arena. And I think he adds a lot to the debates. I hope he makes a good showing. But I don't want him as my president.
Aside to bernbart: that women were maimed or killed under pre-Roe back-alley abortions is irrelevant to many pro-lifers. In their eyes, these women had bad things happen to them while they were murdering innocent babies. Just desserts. And I agree with you that the idea that women get "abortion on demand," is grossly inaccurate.
