Typo alert

"Nobel Peace Price"

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:01 PM

History repeating

The White House is probably busy talking to attorneys about whether they can get a recount on the votes.

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:08 PM

Of course not

Smirky's a punk, and a bully, and a coward.

Ever since the announcement, he's been throwing a temper tantrum, screaming, breaking priceless antiques, stamping his tiny feet and threatening to hold his breath until daddy darth gets HIM a nobillpieceprice, too.

Lord Stanley's Cup

The Anaheim Ducks won the Stanley Cup this year - Carolina was last year. I assume called the Ducks as well.

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:17 PM

Why not?

Why shouldn't President Bush give him a call? It's just the Nobel Prize...who cares? So I guess President Bush will give him a call, let Gore do is Nyah, Nyah...tell him, "Ok Al...feel better now?" and call it a day.

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:19 PM

Ooooh...

I would *love* to be able to listen on that phone call.

Of course, with the new FISA laws, I probably could!

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:29 PM

He would, but...

...he'll be busy hosting a Rose Garden reception for Soldier of Fortune's Man of the Year.

Photo Ops

Actually, Bush usually invites the Nobel winners to the White House for a hand-shake photo op (but often not until November or December).

Holy crap, I can't wait to see that picture.

Please, please, please...

re: Ooooh...

tinmanic,

"I would *love* to be able to listen on that phone call. Of course, with the new FISA laws, I probably could!"

Now why would you *love* to listen in on that phone call? When all is said and done, Al Gore will still have won the Nobel prize BUT President George W. Bush will still be known as our 43rd President...it'll all be in the history books. Big deal.

Friday, October 12, 2007 12:36 PM

Huh?

"Now why would you *love* to listen in on that phone call? When all is said and done, Al Gore will still have won the Nobel prize BUT President George W. Bush will still be known as our 43rd President...it'll all be in the history books. Big deal."

But you just know the repubs and probably Bush himself wish they hadn't fought Gore in Florida.

I imagine they would love not to have "won."

(I know most of the world would love that)

mizbinkley,

Me too! It'll probably be the last time Al Gore is ever in the White House!!!

Gore Doesn't Need Bush's Congratulations

If, in some bizarro future world, Bush wins a Nobel Peace Prize, it will suddenly become a big deal again.

Of course, I realize that my predictive powers on this matter will NEVER, EVER be tested because it's not even a remote possibility that Bush will spend his post-presidential years doing anything that would benefit mankind.

Ohmygoodness,

"But you just know the repubs and probably Bush himself wish they hadn't fought Gore in Florida. I imagine they would love not to have "won." (I know most of the world would love that)

MY point was, it's a moot point...George W. Bush won the Presidental election and no award will ever change that. So, yeah...big deal. President Bush asks Al to come there and congratulates him. Doesn't change anything in the long run.

Oh and I would like to know how you know "most of teh world would love" of Al Gore winning over George W. Bush. Are you psychic?

re: re: Huh?

There are things called opinion polls. You might have heard of them, anonymous.

But yes, you're right, Bush will undoubtedly go down in history as one of America's worst presidents, and Al Gore's Nobel prize can't take that away from him.

That thought must keep you warm at night.

What Prize Will Poor George Win?

Since Bush has spent so much time giving out "Meddle With Freedom" Awards to the likes of George Tenet, Tommy Franks, and Paul Bremer for ensuring that a bogus war was waged and then botched in the greatest single foreign policy blunder in U.S. history, I think it only fair that Bush be awarded a prize too:

The Nobel War Prize.

Instead of money and world acclaim, however, the Award is more simple and humbling:

A SEAT IN THE DOCK AT THE WAR CRIMES TRIBUNAL AT THE HAGUE.

Actually, I don't worry about that Picko...because I prefer to let history do that. You see, the same thing was said about Ronald Reagan and look how history judged him. So no, I don't lose any sleep over it...just like I don't lose sleep over Al Gore winning a Nobel Peace Prize.

I also suspect people will remember George W. Bush longer than they will Al Gore...just my opinion of course.

And yes, I am familiar with opinion polls...just thought it was interesting Picko...no need to take offense.

Never going to happen...because no precedent.

BTW, President Bush has ALREADY won his prize...he's President, isn't he? :-)

You see, the same thing was said about Ronald Reagan and look how history judged him.

I don't think history has had its say yet. The Republican Party and conservatives have beatified him, that's true, but I'd call that a faith based initiative rather than history.

@Anonymous

Hey, are you the infamous, rapid-posting, anonymous Bushie? Taking Deluded Salon Liberals (TM) down a peg one posting at a time?

I'd heard of such an entity but thought it was just a myth. Like Loch Ness, Bigfoot or Bat Boy.
