Dangerous Liaisons
I love that. That's hilarious. Terwilliger is merely a liaison, not someone hired to protect Gonzales from being found guilty of something.
So does this mean that Terwilliger is not Gonzales' lawyer? Not duty-bound to protect Gonzales' interests but bound to the interests of the country? If what Terwilliger were saying were actually true, he'd have been a better AG than Gonzales.
Meanwhile, Gonzo. Better get a new lawyer. If what Terwilliger says is true, he's about to sell you down the river.

No, 'Judge' Alberto will be a free and wealthy man until he dies in his sleep peacefully at age 92. As will Bush, Cheney and the rest of the criminal gang Republican party. It will be we, the middle class citizens, that will die in poverty and sickness in a country that would rather save fetuses than Iraqis. This sickness called conservatism will gradually weaken this country until the UN starts issuing santions agaist us. I only hope the liberation of the United States is handled better than the liberation of Iraq.

I love how he refers to Fredo as "Judge" Gonzales, like we're supposed to forget how he was the AG in the middle (and responsble) for all this. Forgetting is Fredo's forte.

Does this mean he's going to be riding shotgun on the shredder Gonzo's been using since he was let go? Those paper trails won't eliminate themselves. I can imagine him hefting a few demagnetizers, at the very least, to blank some hard drives. Gee willikers, Terwilliger!

If I was Fredo, I'd be more worried..
If I was Fredo, I'd be more worried about the Gov. Siegleman case. That looks like it has a fastlane right to his desk. Plus it might not finish playing out until after the end of Bushs' term, which would make a pardon problematical.
I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure setting a guy up for seven years in jail for political purposes will get you some real jail time.

The Gonzo defense.

Firstly, he intended to do right (of course all enemies of the state claim this). Secondly, honoring the rule of law does sounds somewhat distinct from following the rule of law.... As in " I honor the rule of law by framing my degree from my law school"...
Ok... so the defense is rather thin, but these guys honestly think they control reality. And their puppet supreme court might agree with them.
