Gonzales' lawyer, Gonzales' worry

The former attorney general is said to fear prosecution for lying to Congress.

The letters thread is now closed.

Right on

The right honorable liar Gonzales is going to assist the Department of Justice in weaving a web over his overturning the laws, with the help of Twistiger of course.

Dangerous Liaisons

I love that. That's hilarious. Terwilliger is merely a liaison, not someone hired to protect Gonzales from being found guilty of something.

So does this mean that Terwilliger is not Gonzales' lawyer? Not duty-bound to protect Gonzales' interests but bound to the interests of the country? If what Terwilliger were saying were actually true, he'd have been a better AG than Gonzales.

Meanwhile, Gonzo. Better get a new lawyer. If what Terwilliger says is true, he's about to sell you down the river.

Are you kidding?

The DOJ investigate??? Anything???? You so funny. You make me laugh.

No, 'Judge' Alberto will be a free and wealthy man until he dies in his sleep peacefully at age 92. As will Bush, Cheney and the rest of the criminal gang Republican party. It will be we, the middle class citizens, that will die in poverty and sickness in a country that would rather save fetuses than Iraqis. This sickness called conservatism will gradually weaken this country until the UN starts issuing santions agaist us. I only hope the liberation of the United States is handled better than the liberation of Iraq.

Alberto fucking Gonzales on trial.

Jon Stewart just has too easy a job. The stuff WRITES ITSELF . . . all he has to do is read the headlines and raise an eyebrow!!!

We Can Only Hope, for Justice Sake...

...that Lewis Carroll's Queen of Hearts is presiding over the proceedings.

"Off with their heads!"

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 02:32 PM

There's that word again....

"Gonzales...acted always with the intent and commitment to honor the rule of law."

And Larry Craig intended to resign at the end of September.

I'm gonna try that one next time I get pulled over:

Me: Officer, you say that I was doing 70 in a 45, but I intended to observe the speed limit.

Officer: Oh! Wow. I'm glad you said something. Carry on.

Yea!

It's afraid!! It's afraid of us!!

(apologies to Starship Trooper fans).

Judge Gonzales

I love how he refers to Fredo as "Judge" Gonzales, like we're supposed to forget how he was the AG in the middle (and responsble) for all this. Forgetting is Fredo's forte.

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 02:47 PM

Coincidence? Maybe. I think not....

Terwilliger? As in Sideshow Bob?

Actually, that explains a lot.

"Don't you have a tatoo that says 'Die Habeas Corpus Die'?"

"No, it's German for 'The Habeas Corpus The'"

"Ohhhh.... Anyone who knows German can't be all bad."

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 02:57 PM

Please.

Gonzales has nothing to worry about. I'm sure the Democrats are already busy concocting a bill to provide him with unqualified retroactive immunity.

Injustice is served!

"We have been engaged to assist Judge Gonzales in his continued effort to provide assistance to the Department of Justice as it examines the Department's role in various programs and operations to combat the terrorist threat," Terwilliger said.

Does this mean he's going to be riding shotgun on the shredder Gonzo's been using since he was let go? Those paper trails won't eliminate themselves. I can imagine him hefting a few demagnetizers, at the very least, to blank some hard drives. Gee willikers, Terwilliger!

Wednesday, October 10, 2007 03:53 PM

oh please

pray tell, who the fuck in this 6+ yo administration has at all been held accountable. it sure as hell aint gonna start with abu gonzales.

If I was Fredo, I'd be more worried..

If I was Fredo, I'd be more worried about the Gov. Siegleman case. That looks like it has a fastlane right to his desk. Plus it might not finish playing out until after the end of Bushs' term, which would make a pardon problematical.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure setting a guy up for seven years in jail for political purposes will get you some real jail time.

Fredo, I Knew It Was You

"We have been engaged to assist Judge Gonzales in his continued effort to provide assistance to the Department of Justice as it examines the Department's role in various programs and operations to combat the terrorist threat," Terwilliger said.

Ah, Terwilliger is helping Abu G to remember the facts necessary to assist the DoJ as it examines the DoJ's own role in protecting America against terrorists.

But who will help Mr. Terwilliger remember the facts necessary to assist Abu G remember enough facts to assist the DoJ in remembering what the DoJ did to protect America from terrorists.

In the made for TV movie version,

Fredo will be played by Steve Martin, who will sit placidly and smiling with a blank bovine stare in the witness chair as he repeats his famous line: "I forgot". It will be the first ever TV movie where people watching will long for a commercial break to run to the bathroom to puke.

Gonzo Worried...

I dunno, it doesn't look good if your lawyer proclaims your intention to follow the law rather than asserting that you did. I smell a plea bargain.

Thursday, October 11, 2007 06:59 AM

The Gonzo defense.

"...and acted always with the intent and commitment to honor the rule of law." In one word, intent, we have the Gonzo defense. Firstly, he intended to do right (of course all enemies of the state claim this). Secondly, honoring the rule of law does sounds somewhat distinct from following the rule of law.... As in " I honor the rule of law by framing my degree from my law school"...

Ok... so the defense is rather thin, but these guys honestly think they control reality. And their puppet supreme court might agree with them.

JUSTICE NOT SERVED IS JUSTICE DENIED

As a patriotic American that loves this country, I am deeply saddened that the most corrupt and underminding of the consitution administration will get away scott-free from any accountability. The rich folks get "justice not served" and the little people without wealth for corrupt lawyers, get

"Justice Denied." What a travesty of justice our dearly beloved country has become.

IT TAKES ONE TO DEFEND ONE!!!!!

Gonzo hires Terwilliger? I guess TURDS of a FEATHER, STICK TOGETHER, and you need a CRIMINAL to defend a CRIMINAL!!!!!If in FACT, as this SHYSTER Terwilliger has MAINTAINED, Alberto VO5 GONZO-ales has held "high public office during a time of great peril, worked to help maintain the safety and security of the American people and acted always with the intent and commitment to honor the rule of law," WHY THEN DOES Gonzo NEED a SHYSTER to DEFEND him IF in FACT he has DONE NOTHING WRONG????? ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN TIED BEHIND THEIR BACK, like say, Rush Limburger, CAN SEE THAT Gonzo IS GUILTY AS HELL AND FEARS THE CONSEQUENCES FOR LYING TO CONGRESS, as well as other Nazi-Fascist, Fascist-Nazis of Bushland Uber Allies including "Fear-FULL Leader" Fuhrer CHIMPya W. Bush-HITLER and Reichsfuhrer Torticola DICK-less B(ugger-Buchenwald) Cheney, who are SEEKING TO HAVE THEMSELVES AND THEIR ANUS-KISSING TOADIES AND CRONIES of Bushland Uber Allies BE SHIELDED FROM PROSECUTION FOR THEIR HIGH WAR CRIMES and HIGH CIVIL CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE NAME OF "protecting America from terrorism" WHICH IN FACT is a BIG SMOKESCREEN for THEIR SELFISH, UNBRIDLED MISUSE OF EXECUTIVE POWER AND PRIVILEGE FOR THEIR OWN ENDS AND EVIL SCHEMING MACHINATIONS AND ILLEGAL BREAKING OF THE RULE OF LAW OF THE LAND!!!!!
