So, should passengers be packing heat on planes?

  • @NCSteve

Now that is some impressive imagery.

But who will play Rudy in the movie? Perhaps Fred Thompson?

  • With a gun, you will be what you are just the same

Rudy's probably just figuring out a way he can slip a derringer into his brassiere, and wants to change the laws accordingly.

  • Some thoughts

When Rudy was mayor of NYC, if the police shot a citizen, he leapt to the defense of the police regardless of the circumstances, often bad-mouthing the deceased, never visiting the family. Once he was forced to say, "Let's wait for the investigation before coming to a judgment." We all knew what that meant: bad shoot. Imagine if some of the police's victims had been armed.

What Rudy is really saying here is he cannot get the nomination unless at least some NRA members vote for him so he'd better say something nice about guns.

If plane passengers can carry guns, I assume we will no longer have to deal with the "Sitting on the tarmac for 8 hours" problem.

I think MoveOn.org or the DNC should send truckloads of flip-flops to all the Republican candidates and point-by-point lists of past and present statements on major issues to the MSM.

  • What Rudy meant

Be obsessed with safety, fear everybody, never trust anyone, live your life always assuming the worst in other people. Never ever try to develop a sense of community with different people because different people just want to kill you. Always be ready to shoot someone. Never let your guard down. In fact, hate other people so much that you are willing to increase the chances of shooting one of your own family members by bringing a gun in your house. Arm everyone. Cary mace. Learn Karate. wiretap phones. Punish dissent. Destroy habeus corpus. Revoke the Bill of Rights. Think like an animal. Kill kill kill.

  • Rudy knows citizens need ...

...rocket launchers, surface to air missles, explosives, heavy caliber, I mean really heavy caliber automtic weapons, ones that if aimed at a car could turn it to scrap metal and if aimed at a human turn them into a pink mist. HOO YA! YEAH!

After 9/11, Rudy realized we need to protect the homeland if those terrorists ever escape from Iraq where we got them cornered and come here. If that happens we'll need serious weaponry to blow them towel heads to kingdom come. HOO YA! YEAH!

Rudy is a complete fukkin idiot. HOO YA! YEAH!

  • Shoot first, ask questions later

I think Rudi is on to something. This is just another example of letting the market economy work.

I don't want to pay $500 to fly to Denver, blam - I fly free! I don't want no sticking peanuts - I want to sit in First class and eat real food - blam - I'm in seat 2A!

If trained NYPD officers mistook a wallet for a gun and fired 41 shots, can you imagine your next trip to Disney World? Fly the friendly skies!

  • Bill of Rights

The 2nd Amendment's purpose is to protect us from people like Giuliani.

  • Cool!

Let's say 20 or 25 loaded handguns on every domestic flight! What could possibly go wrong?

  • What Rudy don't unnerstand

A heck of a lot of gun nuts don't want to bear arms because they expect to repel invaders or thwart terrorists. The true gun nut wants to be able, some day if necessary, to protect himself against the U.S. Govvamint!

And the way things are going, I'm not so sure that's crazy.

  • oh, sweet Jesus

If Giuliani was any stupider, he'd be an imbecile. As it is he's merely dumb.

  • Who needs a gun--Again

Who "needs" a gun??? - Probably no one! Who has the Constitutional Right to have and use one, every American citizen of legal age who's not a criminal or insane. I don't know from "Adam" our fellow Salon letter poster, Tyler Mason, who I read is a "Conservative Republican who criticizes the NeoCon idiots" but I have to agree 100% with him (or her-I don't want to assume). The best part is I consider myself a "Liberal" or "Progressive" but actually more like a "libertarian-liberal" (labels are inaccurate-I'm liberal in the classical sense - not the watered-down "Democrat" version! I'm a vegetarian; I don't hunt! My religious beliefs lean toward Buddhism; I believe in non-violent compassion! But I also have a shotgun and it's not going anywhere!

  • The nature of Islam?

Another source for an overall view on the enemy that confronts us.

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/010827.php

The "peaceful" nature of Islam is a misrepresentation advanced based on numerous agendas. It is beneficial to form opinions based on empirical data rather than false ideological concepts that conform to hopes rather tha reality.

  • I've heard posters here call Rudy a moron and stupid.

If he's the right wing candidate on Election Day, he will receive somewhere around 50% of the vote. Who's the moron again?

  • I Get It Now...

Rudy (who is also posting here under the name johnsonjohnson) has changed his perspective on gun control because he realized that if there had only been enough gun-toting bigots around before the hijackers learned to fly at that flight school in Florida, they'd have killed those damn Arabs for fun and the 9/11 attack never would have happened.

To a Dubya fan, it should sound like a pretty clever stratergy.

  • Giuliani: 9/11 helped change my views on gun control

Well, of course, it makes perfect sense.

9/11 made Giuliani a hero in the media. That caused him to think about running for president. That changed his views on gun control.

  • I'm with America's Mayor (not)

9/11 changed everything. Before that fateful day, I used to eat broccoli. No way will I ever do that again. Prior to 9/11 I never used to pick my nose. Now it's a daily ritual, and those dirty stinking terra-ists better watch out for flying boogers.
