... just rotate the tours? Seemed like a good enough idea to them when those poor souls were alive.
(Or better yet, pile the coffins up on the White House lawn next time Our Hero is on vacation.)
Now again, just WHY is it a BAD thing to fund new cemeteries for the brave men and women who died in service to their country?
BTW DerekJ, that is one of the most DISGUSTING things I've ever heard! You should be ASHAMED of yourself!
... as to hide my name. I'm all for respecting and supporting the troops, but I wish more of our elected officials chose to do it while they were still alive.
But it is an abomination that we continue to throw our soldiers into a pointless meat grinder. The only reason we NEED more cemetary space is because the First Occupant loves war, hates what America used to stand for, and can only get an erection when our troops are dying for oil.
Absolutely not.
This entire conflict is shameful in and of itself. Sure, fund a new cemetery. We'd need it at some point anyway. But for a Senator to say "Give us a new cemetery or we'll start stacking the coffins". Well, how much more shameful can you get?
This is their war. This blood is on their hands. And any American that tells me "Oh, we're all in this together" is just trying to lend a little credibility to a morally bankrupt position of supporting this conflict.
I support the troops. I support them by wanting them home, now, with their families rather than home, later, in boxes.
DerekJ,
"... as to hide my name. I'm all for respecting and supporting the troops, but I wish more of our elected officials chose to do it while they were still alive."
I choose not to give my name as is my right for freedom of speech...as YOU have the right to say what you did. BUT you should show more respect for the dead...and you know it.
Right wing loves the dead and hates the living, which explains why conseratives in this country are always so hell-bent on creating more dead people and making the lives of survivors so miserable.

Sounds more to me like this is a fact...after all, where WILL they put the bodies if they don't have more room?
"I support the troops. I support them by wanting them home, now, with their families rather than home, later, in boxes."
Ok...now for an INTERESTING question...you say you support the troops by wanting them home now with their families...but what about those who BELIEVE in what they are doing and WANT to stay there to finish it? How is bringing them home prior to finishing it "supporting THEM"??
Bukk63,
"Right wing loves the dead and hates the living, which explains why conseratives in this country are always so hell-bent on creating more dead people and making the lives of survivors so miserable."
Hummm...maybe you're right. Right wingers just LOVE abortions, after all...you mean they DON'T?! Ok then, they must LOVE euthanasia...NO?! Then I bet THEY were the ones who used dead people's names to cast votes for those politicians THEY wanted into office...NO???
Interesting!
Have you ever been there? It's a beautiful old army post with many old post-Civil War buildings. The Officers' Quarters next to the parade field have been the home of many fine officers and a few not-so-fine ones too. (Custer).
But it was a cavalry post at one time and when I stand on that parade ground I can almost hear the lilting strains of my namesake song, "Garryowen" being played by the fife and drum of the 7th Cavalry.
Ft. Riley was also named as the place of origin for the deadly Spanish Influenza that swept the country in 1918. But others say that's not true.
The fort has a great museum and is usually open to the public. So if you're out there on the great highway between Denver and Kansas City and you want to take a break, stop at Ft. Riley.
And do visit the existing cemetery there too. It might remind you, as it does me, that no matter what your political persuasion, these men and women who rest there deserve respect.

Let 'em go to work for Blackwater, but not on our dime. Let Exxon/Mobil fund this shitty war, and stop using our as troops corporate mercenaries and Bush's Viagra substitute.
Abortions fuel their hate, which is what they survive on. The right wing is made up of a vast collection of bitter psychological vampires, desperately afraid someone else might be having sex or making a decent living. The right doesn't feel alive unless they're killing someone or grinding someone's throat under their boot.
But Bukk63,
"Let 'em go to work for Blackwater, but not on our dime. Let Exxon/Mobil fund this shitty war, and stop using our as troops corporate mercenaries and Bush's Viagra substitute."
These guys are soldiers...they want to BE soldiers and are happy being soldiers. And seriously, some of them want to finish what they started.
So why can't we support them doing it? After all, they volunterred to be in the military and do this job.

Hummm...then the logical solution is to STOP the abortions and the lack of hate will kill off all the right winger, RIGHT?
