Ah, no other White House Press Secretary talks out of both sides of his mouth quite like Tony Snow.
We'll miss your smarmy flair. Here's hoping for at least a few great Dana Perino and Gordon Johndroe moments.
Never forget: 9/11 changed EVERYTHING.
What did it change, you ask? Simply put, it removed the need for logic, consistency or accountability from our leaders. And anyone who expects logic, consistency or accountability is obviously nothing more than a surrender monkey who wants to coddle the murderous terrorists who hate us for our freedoms.
How does the press live with itself not asking the follow-up "But you said..." and then reading his words back to him? It's incredible. I hope the journalists in this country are all secretly tormented by their whore-like existence.
In 3...2...1...
On this day which is declared by many the day that changed the world, what really changed? Did the events in New York City, Washington DC and Pennsylvania really change the world, or was it our response to those events? Yes, the loss of life and the destruction of property affected many people in many places, even globally; but what we are experiencing 6 years hence is not related so much to the events of 9/11/01, as to our response. Choices were made in the hours and days following the events of 9/11, and we are now living with the consequences of those choices. What can we do today to change the results of the decisions we made 6 years ago? The truth is that they were and are our decisions/choices. In a global community in which we are all related, each decision I make as an individual has an impact on all of us. Granted, it may not be immediately apparent and may not have a blatently obvious effect, but there are consequences to each thought, act and deed. 9/11 did not happen in a vacuum. It was the result of decades and perhaps eons of human interaction, culminating in what many describe as catastrophic events. Had we taken the time to review the thoughts, beliefs and actions leading to 9/11, and act differently on the outcomes of those reviews, today would be very different. But, today we, the USA, are mired in global conflicts and having to realize that because of the power we wield through our perceived superiority in physical/military, economic and social standing, it becomes our responsibility to make new decisions to correct the errors made over the past 6 years and more.
I don't propose to have the answers because no one person does, but we may begin a dialogue here to discuss what changes we can make as individuals to affect the environment in which we live. We have been blessed with the power of creation; it is up to us to learn to use it for the benefit of all. I encourage your replies.
Peace,
st john
Sigh. St. John is absolutely right with “Had we taken the time to review the thoughts, beliefs and actions leading to 9/11, and act differently on the outcomes of those reviews, today would be very different.”
The thing is, anyone who asked those questions was labeled part of the “Blame America First” crowd—dissed and dismissed, labeled as treasonous.
So instead of learning from the past and understanding more about the U.S.’s relationships with the Muslim world, we have what RichEmery notes in an earlier post: no logic, no accountability and no respect for those who dare to question the status quo.
What a career arc: from very highly-paid-media-whore to not-quite-as-highly-paid media whore. Maybe he can go back to Fox.
There's not enough fire extinguishers on the planet to handle this flaming administration. And yes, I assume there are more than a few flaming members of this administration...
The problem isn't with the Bush junta and their endless lying, cheating and stealing... The problem is with the Democratic majority and their rubber stamping of the war criminals requests to continue funding the war.
If the Democrats pass a bill that defunds, draws down or changes the course of this crime against humanity in Iraq, let the president veto it. Then stand your ground. No bill, no funding. If the only bill offered is one that the American people want (which is a realistic approach to ending this war) then the onus is on the Bushists to pass it. If they do not... then there is no funding.
The President cannot raise funds. He can only sign bills or veto them. If he vetos a bill, then there is no funding until he passes a bill. If the only bill available to him is a bill that offers a true solution to the endless war, then that's it. Sign the bill, end the war, don't sign the bill, end the war sooner. It really is that simple.
Stop blaming Bush and his war crimes co-conspirators. We know they are assholes, we know that they have no intention of either ending this war or being honest with the people.
Just because there is a lot of grumbling by the democrats as they pass these funding bills doesn't make them any less of a rubber stamp legislature then the criminally negligent Republican majority that they replaced.
Passing the any bill that is shaped by this worst of all presidents is continuing the crimes against the peace, war crimes and crimes against humanity that the Bushists are truly guilty of.
