For the GOP

Will the last person not yet arrested turn out the lights?

GOP: Group of Perverts

He said he had a wide stance?

So Bill Clinton should have claimed that Monica just happened to yawn at the wrong time.

Monday, August 27, 2007 03:18 PM

no wrongdoing?

If there was no wrongdoing, why did the sitting US Senator plead guilty? Why did he pay the fine? Why was this arrest and conviction kept secret? Why wasn't the police officer involved disciplined?

Is there a GOP member of Congress who isn't on the Down Low?

Our elected Republican conservative leaders - and empire builders have lost a slacker, I bet they are happy they didn't have to set him up themselves...

I thought they were smart and shrewd...

but here we have a no talent perv-ert,

who can't even get a blowjob from a willing adult.

If this guy was a lawyer his past-client cases should be dismissed for incompetence.

The Judge on this case is gonna be amazed, and that takes a lot.

Monday, August 27, 2007 03:43 PM

This just gets

better and better. An airport bathroom?!?! For the love of god...One more nail in the republican coffin, a few more like this (we all know it's coming) and they can kiss off the next 50 years...

Oh where oh where are the trolls on this one?

Monday, August 27, 2007 03:45 PM

I just want to be clear...

In the Grand Ol' Party of American/Christian/Family values, being in a commited same-sex relationship and/or using state's rights legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes is indicative of the moral decay and decadence of the liberal Democrat party. "Enemy opposers" should be arrested and held without bail or access to a lawyer indefinitely, prosecuted with secret evidence gathered by extra-legal means of investigation or through coercion, and locked up until the "War on murican values" is won.

On the other hand, if your a closet pedophile, or a pervert cruising public restrooms looking for someone to give a blow/hand job, or a lying scumbag willing to subvert The Constitution or jeopardize the national security of the nation by outing a covert CIA agent, or you just like to trip on down to Latin America to score hookers and oxycontin; that's unfair hyperpartisan politics. Then you deserve compassion, a pardon, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Am I in the right ballpark?

Senator Craig (R -- Mining Lobby)

I'd be happy to see Senator Craig, a metaphorical raper of the enviroment in my opinon, go down (so to speak) on perv charges. Whatever it takes to get rid of these godawful Republicans is fine by me.

"GOP: Group of Perverts." Good one, Dataguyx!

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:03 PM

The timing is suspicious

Evidently the incident occurred on June 11, and Craig pleaded guilty on August 8th. So why are we hearing about this today, three weeks later, on the day of Alberto Gonzales's resignation? To change the subject?

And the story's in Roll Call, whose executive editor is right-wing bloviator Morton Kondracke. Maybe they want to dump all their bad news at once; the Craig conviction's sure to come out eventually.

Flying tomorrow

As I will be flying tomorrow, I think I will wear astronaut-style diapers so I don't have to go in the airport men's room and deal with dick-waving Republicans. Instead of separate bathrooms for men and women, can we not have separate facilities for Republicans where they will not mix with other men, women, children, and animals?

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:30 PM

They just can't be satisfied with normal sex, can they?

What is wrong with Republicans? Mark Foley, David Vitter, now this guy Craig? And there are hundreds more of them.

In a public bathroom no less.

Eeeew.

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:30 PM

Becuase nothing...

...screams GOP values like anonymous gay sex in public restrooms. Geez, couldn't he get Gannon's new number?

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:34 PM

You won't catch me defending Larry Craig or Foley or any other member of Congress doing the same thing.

But here's the part I don't get; if Barney Frank or Tammy Baldwin (just for instance, purely hypothetically) did something perverted, is it "okay," for them to have done so, because their public policy positions include same-sex marriage, homosexual employment and housing rights, abortion rights on demand, etc.?

What is it that makes some private sexual conduct okay, but not other conduct, based only on the perp's public policy positions? Does your policy on budgetary matters make a difference as to whether your conduct should be exposed?

The case of Larry Craig crosses a line, apparently, which is that criminal activity of any kind is intolerable. Of course, Patrick Kennedy's getting loaded and driving his car on Washington's sidewalks didn't earn him any kind of legislative sanction either, so there are crimes, and then there are crimes.

I agree with Karl Rove and that is that the Republican party was weak and ineffectual in dealing with the Mark Foleys in its midst. And there is a price to pay for that. I suspect that Rahm Emmanuel would not tolerate such a thing in the Democratic caucus and the Republicans need their own Rahmbo. We'll see how Mitch McConnell deals with this. I'd kind of like to see

In the meantime, wasn't Frank Church the last Democrat in Idaho? They all went to Oregon and Washington State in 1982, right? Does anyone think that Larry Craig's seat will go to a Democrat? Seems to me that a good move might be for Craig to resign quickly and then have Governor Butch Otter appoint himself to Craig's unexpired term and then run in the next general.

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:39 PM

LARRY CRAIG FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL!

Seriously, he's the only person who would take that job right now.

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:42 PM

I'm for any Republican Senator losing his seat

But what little access to the facts of Craig's arrest I have had leads me to feel that this could actually have been a matter of one overzealous cop working on his quota of entrapments for the day. What are we paying cops to lurk in bathrooms for, anyway? Unless children are involved, that is.

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:47 PM

In order to survive the hypocrisy

and pandering to the lowest common denominator of Elephant Man's Party....the GOP's many gay members must live in the closet, and hide their sexuality....and repressed sexuality forces people to act out inappropriately.

Why is that so hard for guys like Elephant Man to understand?

It is okay to make gay marriage a fear driven issue, engage in institutional homophobia..and then act surprised when gay Republicans do self destructive stuff.

Well...maybe you guys should rethink hurting people and forcing them to live lies for political expediency.

Of course, common human decency is an alien concept when one embraces corruption and incompetence as a governing principle.

Monday, August 27, 2007 04:51 PM

"...if Barney Frank or Tammy Baldwin (just for instance, purely hypothetically) did something perverted..."

How pathetic is this?

In case you missed it, the "hypothetically" part is what makes it different. For your absurd (and sadly obvious in its intent) question to be taken remotely seriously, first these sorts of perversions would have to be committed by Democratic leaders. They aren't. It's just the Republicans who are the perverts.

But you know that, which is why you want to change the subject, even if your need to rush out a Republican response only permits you to do so as hamhandedly as this.

As to the distinguished Democratic leaders you list, they are both openly gay or lesbian and happily married to partners who are also openly gay or lesbian. They're not, you know, disgusting, self-hating Republican gay men who pretend to live one life and lie to their constituents while voting against who they really are and harming LGBT people and their families -- people who aren't screwed up like the Republicans themselves -- all while raking in the corporate interest cash.

Hope that clears things up for you, as if they were ever murky to begin with.
