Nouri al-who?

Bush backs away from the man he once called the "right guy" for Iraq.

The letters thread is now closed.

ka-thunk ka-thunk

sounds like Al-Maliki and the underside of a bus just had what diplomats call "a frank exchange of views."

Where was the constitution written?

And where did Nouri al Maliki live before he was appointed prime minister on whose sayso? Bush forgets that he was the one who brought Iraqi "Freedom". Saw that speech with all the tes and ems including the stupid grin. Who is still being fooled by this BS. Say what you want, this war is lost!

Ah, the irony.

The irony of President Feeb's last statement, given the way in which he reached inauguration, is just too much.

Still, I think the big Feeb gets a pass on this. I doubt he reads much of anything, much less a Supreme Court decision like *GORE v. STATE OF FLORIDA*.

Who really cares?

It's not as if anyone's in charge nor anyone can be. It's merely flaming anarchy with periodic punctuations of slight calm.

Hmmmm....

You don't suppose he'd give US citizens the same options, do you? WTF is he still doing in office? Oh, yeah, the Dems are waiting for him to evaporate on his own, like a nice streak of piss.

What a freakin twist to Alice in Wonderland.

Bush giving hints as to who should be in office is beyond bizarre> It's very fairy tale, though.

I find myself laughing repeatedly at this worsening tragedy and know its effects are from another realm. As if by a spell I've been captured into staring at horror one moment, then at a figure whose position engeders respect ingrained in me and I spin into near delirium. But then I realize it isn't me that's lost. No, it's the current President that has no awareness at all!

Bush firmly believes spending time spinning this tragedy into political terms, i.e., red state vs. blue state SOLVES the problem. To have it reported today that the largest one day death toll occurred last week doesn't stop this belief. Nor do the many other instances where his repeatedly failed strategy have been implemented. Implemented in every way shape or form, even while he's trying to scapegoat the Iraqi Leader he all but founded.

Maybe we should have used Chalabi?

Maybe the President should be given a pink slip!!!

"political terms, i.e., red state vs. blue state"

For Bush, and Rove, I think that is what it really came down to: being able to use the war cow the press, Dems, and ultimately the voters into going along with the worst abuses of executive power, and to prevent any retribution. That it worked so well, for so long, is an indictment at every level of our political discourse. Of course, for Cheney, it seems like it was the money/oil.

Does this series of quotes mean Bush is now the "flipflopperer" in chief? Again?

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 04:05 PM

Oh, Mlaliki is used to Bush's contempt (and Cheney's and Condi's and every-frigging-other person) ...

He's shown remarkable persistence and he's managed to stay alive ... I will give him much credit for that, particularly since the things he has "failed" to do are things that most of the Iraqi parliament doesn't want to do either.... he doesn't have that much power... (it wouldn't be a "democracy" if he did).

Anyhow, I've been predicting he will be voted out by a "vote of no confidence" to coincide with 09/11 and our own "post-surge what do we do now???" hysteria ...

This vote of no-confidence is a procedure used in most parliamentary systems ... this SHOULD NOT BE A CRISIS ... it just means that NOTHING WILL GET DONE FOR 6-8 MONTHS as coalitions are reconfigured (sort like the last 9 months or so) ... .that's all!** which should suit BushCo perfectly (that oil and those contracts aren't going ANYHWERE) .... pay close attention to how they play it.

** Regional elections are likely to be cancelled/postponed, however, with a couple of million out of the country and several million internally displaced, those elections would have been largely meaningless anyway.

Why kvetch when you can bet?

Ok who wants the over/under on when Al Maliki getting the "terrorist car bomb treatment before or after the "September Petreaus certified 9/11 Fighting them There so not to fight them Here" report?

Me, I'm taking the under, but only on a Friday dump day and at least a week or so early to allow a "coalition government of 'generals'" to step in and 'restore' order and 'promise elections.'

He doesn't work for Bush

He works for Tehran. It's called pissing in the sweet tea before you serve it to the guy you're stealing from. A time tested Arab custom.
