Karl Rove to resign

Facing a subpoena from Congress, the president's political advisor says he wants to spend more time with his family.

The letters thread is now closed.

Tar and feathers would be appropreate.

Naw, forget that. A lie detector test followed by an investigation that would take care to drag it out to find him guilty two minutes after Bushit leaves office. No pardon. Just five or six years in prison.

A guy can dream can't he?

Karl Rove to resign

The first thing I asked myself when I read that headline was "Is today April 1st?".

The timing of this is indeed suspicious. Nonetheless I'm happy to see him off the taxpayer's payroll. Hopefully this move will embolded Congress. Ahh the coffee if finished. I'm going to be so disappointed when I realize this is all a dream.

Wow.

You'd think this would be a moment of rejoicing, but it's not, really. All the manipulating, scheming, lying, and assuredly illegal maneuvering, and he leaves on his own terms with a career of fame and fortune ahead. It's hard not to admire the guy in a way.

If he does write the book, it'll be required reading for bare-knuckle politics for the next century, though.

His work is done, anyway...

but I'd rather him leave now, at this late date, than still be there another day. Good riddance. Anyone with a shred of perceptiveness will understand Rove's legacy. As I wrote in a post last week concerning Barry Bonds, the only thing Americans hate more than a cheater is a loser. And Rove is no loser, that's for sure.

First off,

sorry about the "double" posting. I'm electronically challenged and can't seem to remember much these daze...

I just read where the Chinese guy who was responsible for exporting all those Fisher Price leaded paint-covered toys hung himself. What a guy. Looked into the mirror and, as prescribed culturally, committed suicide for his deeds. Rove, as prescribed culturally, will write a book full of the same lead paint-covered crap he's been pitching, will become a millionaire, and continue to "export" his particular brand of "lead paint-covered" crap until he dies from whatever disease finally stops his nauseating neocon heart.

What ever one might think of the commie-pinko Reds, they know how to promptly correct malfeasance, and have the decency to self-end themselves due to ethical wrong doing. If this were the case here, we'd be left with no Congress and more than likely, no Executive branch either, and the Supreme Court would be "left" with three clear thinkers and a bunch of wakes to attend. Nonetheless, what we would have, though, is a lot of soldiers coming home...

now, about that subpoena

Is this like the game little kids play: "if I close my eyes, I can't see Mom. If I can't see Mom, she can't see me. If hecan't see me, I can't gert in trouble!"

Hopefully the senate is smarter than that.

Bush's Brain RSVP to War Crimes Tribunal

I trust he can tear himself away from his family to be present at that.

Rove is leaving to put the 08 dirty tricks into high gear

He has so much to do to get the 08 version of the swift boaters and flip flop message squads operative.

So much dirt to invent on Hillary . . .

Rove's leaving the current administration in Cheney's hands so he can go create the crisis that will prevent the elections being held on schedule.

No telling what Rove will be up to, but you know it will be dirty and violate the Constitution.

Have you ever noticed...

...nobody ever says they're taking a government job because they "want to spend less time with their family"?

Monday, August 13, 2007 05:17 AM

What is 'resign'?

How do you know that? Karl Rove could do his job under house arrest. Just because he doesn't come to the office anymore doesn't mean he doesn't still 'work' for the White House.

Monday, August 13, 2007 05:22 AM

One down, three to go!

While it does seem suspicious that Rove is quitting, I'd say that the heat was getting to him, and the inquiry about the attorneys scandal is really the reason he is quitting.

I didn't think he was married, never saw a picture of his wife or son-in 7 years. Anyone have one?

As for future political action, I'd say he's done-the Republicans have been tremendously damaged by his shenanigans, and he's not the "golden boy" of the party anymore; he's done more harm to their cause than they would have liked.

I seriously doubt that he will be invited to "help" them in any way once he's retired. More like "don't call us, we'll call you". Besides, the Congressional inquiry should take up more of his time-he might have to talk to lawyers in order to stay out of prison.

I do wonder how Bush will think without half of his brain missing.

more time with his family

But does his family want to spend more time with him?

Monday, August 13, 2007 05:28 AM

Rove and Sex

Rove has to spend more time with his family? Puhleeze, gimme a break. He is being blackmailed, and don't I love it.

Who do you think Jeff Gannon was shtooping during all those overnight White House visits? Who had the power to have a male prostitute admitted and to keep him overnight over and over again?

Remember: Rove's nickname in the administration was Miss Piggy, not Mr. Piggy.

Monday, August 13, 2007 05:30 AM

yay! Now he'll be gone, like Karen Hughes was gone, forever and ever

And he'll be so happy to see his wife and kid that he'll never, ever show up on CNN to "discuss" politics.

Monday, August 13, 2007 05:56 AM

This changes things how?

Apart from no longer drawing a publicly funded check, I don't see how the situation is altered. Until there's a trial or other legal action taken to bring him to account, nothing has changed. His new un-official status doesn't affect his influence on the President either.

I'm afraid that TrueBlue is most likely correct in that this is just a strategic move to free up time to concentrate on 2008. Remember, we have to have some kind of crisis by then so that we can suspend normal elections, possibly for the remainder of America's lifespan.

You could think of this move as if one was serving in the National Guard for appearances, and then went AWOL to work on more important political manoeuvering. Not that any sane politician would do that...

Democrats control house and senate???

Give me a break here. The Democrats can't control their own bowels much less any political forum.

They can't get a 60% majority and they can't be arsed to actually make the Reps go through with a filibuster so they roll over. Totally useless. Still, if we cover them with leaves and grass clippings, maybe next year they'll be good for fertilizer...
