He "listens to the generals", but what about the other troops on the ground

Obviously these soldiers are too busy trying to stay alive to have gotten the message that we are winning and glorious victory on the Malabar front is within reach (if only the traitorous democrats would stop saying its not).

It all seems to be clear to the president but when I try to connect the dots from 9/11 to Col. Garrett's world I just have to shake my head in wonder and disbelief.

Why do they hate our troops?

Don't they know they're just emboldening our enemy? When the inevitable attack occurs, it's going to be nobody's fault but theirs.

We're in the land of the egocentric fools

Republicans were so egocentric when they congratulated themselves for beating the Communists in Afghanistan that they never really took any serious interest in exactly WHY socialism failed in Afghanistan.

If you just dismiss socialism as something that can't succeed, then you're going to miss all of the valuable lessons that its particular mechanism of failure in Afghanistan could have taught us about what was going to happen with our brilliant idea for forcing democracy on Iraq.

"The Tragedy of Afghanistan" by Raja Anwar is quite an illuminating read.

Honesty

Sgt. Josh Claeson on how it all feels: "Our basic mission here is to drive around and get blown up."

If, like everything else in his misbegotten "presidency," Shrub hadn't so thoroughly degraded its value, I'd nominate Sgt. Claeson for a Medal of Freedom for his honesty. As it is, I just hope he comes back alive.

I guess...

I should just read the Washington Post to get the real story. Like Salon does.

Maybe,

but no matter where you read about what is really going on, you probably still wouldn't believe it.

@ Tiberius

While I know neither your age, physical condition, or much of anything else about you beyond your apparent political persuasion - if you're between the ages of 17 and 40 and in reasonably good physical condition, you could always go find out for yourself.

As they used to say back when the world and I were young: "It's not just a job, it's an adventure".

Tiberius

If you could read papers in languages other than English you would find out that the Washington Post reporting is closest to the truth.Of course since your idol is King George (according to the point of view you express) you dont like it. Face it, the surge does not work. And if you really want to find out what goes on in Iraq, why dont you do like McCain and walk the streets of Bagdad, but without military escort and Helicopter coverage.

It's too bad no one was warned us this would happen

Oh wait...

BUSH'S WAR----THE BAD THE UGLY AND THE DEAD

To the soldier who rides around in a truck expecting to be blown up, I pray that God will keep you safe.

When one, like Bush, has a closed mind and does not listen to anyone it really makes the situation hopeless.

Hopefully a President will be elected in 2008 who will be willing to listen to people who are well versed in warfare and take their advice especially when it comes to invading an unarmed Country who was no threat to the United States.

Impeach.

The rest is a colossal waste of time.

Bush has created a worldwide nationalist movement ..

In a recent interview the governor of the North-West Frontier Providence of Pakistan told reporters that George Bush has now destroyed a small window of co-operation with the Muslim community after 9-11.

Bush's failure to achieve any of his early objectives against Osama, Al-Qaeda and the Taliban has, after 5 bloody and fruitless years, not only strengthened all three of those targets, and escalated the opium production which helps fund them, but has backfired dramatically into newly created nationalist movements where entire populations are now anti US, he said.

No one, citizen or foreigner, friend or foe, wants to side with President George Bush's team.

Accordingly, the front line of terrorism starts and ends in the Bush run White House.

Acronym crazy

Hi Tim,

Say, need your help with the definition of acronyms used in the articles.

What is EFP? AQI?

I know IED,(improvised explosive device) and some others.

Sheesh, talk about learning another language!
