Rolling over, again

As they did with funding for Iraq, the Democrats -- or enough of them, anyway -- give Bush what he wants on spying.

The letters thread is now closed.

Politicians doing one thing then saying another?

A politician promising one thing then delivering another. Say it ain't so!

Go figure. And here I thought only the neocons duped their base in order to get elected.

Nader

I'm voting for him for everything. President, American Idol, NBA All-star game. Screw it. And screw the Democratic party.

Dems Need To Tell The Story.

The Democrats need to keep telling the facts about how we were manipulated into the Iraq war by the lies of Bush, Cheney, and others.

Then, they must vote in accordance with the wishes of the majority of American voters. Hold Bush accountable for a timetable in Iraq. It can be a secret timetable, so not to give intel to the enemy, but there must be a timetable for withdrawal.

The Dems have the power but they forget what would happen if the shoe was on the other foot. If the Repukes were in the majority they wouldn't care about the Dems.

Remember that the Republicans are for Party first, country second.

That message must be delivered by the Dems loud and clear.

Remember the last election?

How many Democrats running were being pushed as new-fangled conservative Democrats that would appeal to all those good liberal-hating, god-fearing Americans?

Well I looked at that list of how everyone voted and I saw the names a few of the "new and improved Democrats)

Dems and Republicans are cut from the same cloth
Remember that the Republicans are for Party first, country second.
And the Dems aren't? What makes them so different?

Republican politicians and Democratic politicians are different? Yeah, right. Bluebloods all cut from the same cloth. Keep on telling yourself otherwise though, the power elite love useful idiots. Just don't be shocked when a Dem gets the nod saying one thing but in the end turns out being just like Bush (i.e. business as usual). The elites pay for the presidency and their needs (i.e. Our National Interests) trump the needs of "We the People".

Both sides are power first, party second, people last.

The Democratic Party Needs New Leadership

That's it - bottom line - nuff said.

I get it that they're fearful of losing their edge but by continuing to roll over for this criminal administration, the Dems are ensuring that they will remain second class regardless of how many votes they have, how any seats they win or how much money they take in.

I'm not giving up on the Democratic Party but I'm giving up on the current crop. I can't continue to support a party that so easily votes against the core values of their constituents in order to maintain power.

Additionally, I want that to be an issue in the next election - what are you going to do to restore the constitutional checks and balances that have been ravaged by this administration and their toadies in both parties.

Why are the Dems so afraid?

Bush supporters now number around 30% and Cheney's numbers are lower than dirt. The only people that still support this administration are people that walk around with aluminum foil wrapped around their head to block the radio waves from outer space.

If the Dems are afraid to stand up to these incompetent screwballs then why are they collecting a paycheck? The Dems should just hand the country over to King George and Queen Cheney and resign. The results would be the same and the taxpayers could save some money.

Precisely.

You hit the nail with your head.

Don't blame "the Democrats"

The story here is not that "the Democrats" caved to the President. After all, the Democrats voted against this bill by about a 4-1/2 to 1 margin. That means that the real story is that the Democrats have a slim majority in the House and that the Republicans are showing extremely good party discipline in votes like this one, so that there's little margin for any Democrat to vote against the bill.

In fact, what's remarkable here is that 181 Democrats voted against the bill, even knowing that they would risk having their opponents say they were soft on terrorism for voting against the FISA fix. Heck, if there were five more Democrats in the House, it's likely that they would have passed the better version of the bill, even with the defectors.

I'm not saying that I'm happy with the 41 who voted for the final bill, but this is one of those times when it's hard to maintain perfect party discipline. Also, keep in mind that a good chunk of that group also voted for the better version, which lost by a pretty slim margin. It's not entirely unreasonable for them to say that they did what the party wanted the first time, but aren't going to take the risk on the second vote.

Afraid of offending their masters

The Dems should just hand the country over to King George and Queen Cheney

Don't you mean King Cheney and Queen Bush?

What are the Democrats afraid of? The only they are afraid of is offending their money masters, not the people. Right now they are just fulfilling prophecies:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

A day that will live in infamy

I never would have thought they would top Hiroshima, but they did. Sort of an atomic-bomb in reverse, only the fallout will be worse.

DINOs and RINOs

When counting votes on these sorts of matters, keep in mind that there are always some DINOs to account for, whereas RINOs are basicaly non-exostent. That's the bottom line.

Only the States can save us

It's time to turn to our own STATE governments, to see that the Constitution is restored. They can impeach - and we have an entire Federal governmnet that needs impeached (all 3 branches), for failure to hold to their sworn duty to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution..." It's not just the executive branch that has claimed for itself powers not granted by the Constitution; Congress has done the same in overriding Constitutional guarantees by passing bills which directly conflict with it (see Amendments 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10), effectively repealing these amendments. Someone needs to remind them that only the STATES can amend the Constitution.

Impeach? Don't think so

Didn't ya know? Pelosi said that Impeachment is off the table and AIPAC is OK with that. Sorry gang, maybe next time. Prime up those tactical nukes, boys, I'll see you in Tehran!
