Which brings to mind a PBS Frontline interview conducted on Jan 9, 2007
...with Mark Klein. He inadvertently discovered that the whole flow of Internet traffic in several AT&T operations centers was being regularly diverted to the National Security Agency (NSA).
It's a very interesting read.

Some quotes:
"The administration's first presentation of it is disingenuous. They present it as about phone calls. They're just watching a few bad people who make phone calls to Al Qaeda and the Middle East, and you notice they don't talk about the Internet hardly at all. That part of it hasn't been revealed, because if they did, Americans would realize it's not just a few people; it's everybody, because the data they're handing over is not selected out. When you run fiber optics through a splitter and you send all that data to a secret room, there's no selecting going on there at all."
"The analogy I use: If the government claims, "Well, when you do your taxes, why don't you just write me a blank check and we'll fill in the amount? Don't worry. We'll do it legal. We'll fill in the right amount," would you do that? Nobody would trust the government by writing a blank check to them. It's the same thing with the data we're giving them."

!Adios, Tio Torture!
Alberto Gonzales, you have sacrificed yourself for that W. Twit Bush. Do you already have a million bucks in the bank? I cannot figure out how you might have a million bucks, because you have spent your entire adult life in "public service."
Now you are an obvious liar. Your NeoCon sponsors will not hire you, because you appear to be stupid.
Bad luck to you, Tio Torture! Many good Americans hope you will wind up in the gutter. Many of us hope you will wind up on a plane to Egypt, to be tortured, with "pain equivalent to the pain of death." (Your immortal words!)
Rot in Egypt. Rot in Hell. Buena suerte!

Tell congress all about it
If the DOJ can leak classified information to try and save Gonzales' sorry little ass .. , then they should be able to talk to congress and the American people about it.

Unrelated...
But it seems the FBI is raiding Ted Stevens house at this very moment.
I assume that he is outside screaming "No!" at them.

Any word on Rove's receiving a subpeona?
That's a bomb long needing dropping in my opinion. Let me also add, that since conventional wisdom has dropped the ball on this whole episode all along, Rove's subpeona shouldn't be seen as just a piece of paper.
Not by a long shot.
1) The political director Susan Clark cleared Bush when she stated he was never talked to with regard to firings. 2) Politics played a role in the nine firings. Ergo, I love that word, Rove was the "Mastermind."
I have felt for some time that Gonzales sans Iraq. He's indicative is why. Rove's meddling in the Justice Dept's affairs, and now being in a position where he may end up talking about them under oath, is evidence of that. If the Solicitor General appoints a Special Prosecutor it will come at a time when Bush is going to use his "My ignorance is your Bliss" appeal to extend the war in Iraq.
But a Special Prosecutor sitting on his doorstep will belie that in stark terms.
I bet that subpeona is feared by Rove.
I'll bet anybody!

Alberto Telling The Truth? Hah!
Alberto "Speedy" Gonzalez...the most unctious and sleazy little hemorrhoid to hold the office of Attorney General since the late and un-lamented John Mitchell...couldn't tell the truth about the events occurring under his aegis if his life depended on it!
To expect someone who has ZERO respect for the rule of law and the spirit of law to "do the right thing" by delineating his sins and misdeeds is naive at best; he most likely doesn't even know what the truth is!
Thankfully, his time is almost up...

Witch hunter General
Remember the Inquistion? Remember the witch hunts? Remember Senator McCarthy? Well guess what: McCarthy has risen, and the Inquistion aka The War on Terror is back in style. We're now facing legislation in my country in which the secret service can enter your home without a warrant and search your home and your computer and never even tell you they were there. Isn't democracy great?
