  • hahaha

I'm sure a guy whose approval rating hovers close to the single digits will be entering the race.

  • Elections have been fixed before

If he runs, then I'll be very scared.

  • be careful what you wish for....

My middle-of-the-night nightmare is that Senator Clinton is the Democratic nominee, and proves to be unelectable because she is, in no particular order, a Clinton and a woman.

I do not disregard the possibility that the Repubs can pull this one out. We simply do not know what will happen in the next few months. Do not forget that there are still a lot of the electorate that can be scared/fooled into thinking that the Bush/Cheney administration did the right thing in taking on the terrorists. Just look at the recent op-ed by Bill Kristol, look at some of the rightwing blog sites, and wonder how many people can be persuaded that we really are "safer" if we go on the "offensive."

Dick Cheney, ironically, might be the only one who can win.... Be afraid, be very afraid....

  • Dicking over the country?

At least once he gets his new pacemaker battery installed, people won't be able to call Dick heartless, anymore.

Is an American Dickover actually in the works? Could this honestly be for real? I mean, I know he's been Shadow President since '00, but still, it's pretty creepy, even by the GOP's already sickoid standards.

  • I'm For It

As Hamlet said, "Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished."

While it would be no shoe-in, especially against Hillary or Obama, it would present the American people with a stark choice. More of the same old shit, or a real change. If the ignoramuses who elected Bush really are as stupid as they sometimes seem, and the last six years haven't taught them something, surely it's time for the rest of us to brush up our resumes and start emigrating.

  • "...proves to be unelectable because she is, in no particular order, a Clinton and a woman."

Between the two of them, the Clintons have an almost perfect track record of being elected to every office they've ever run for -- and a perfect record of winning the White House (with Bill also having the distinction of being our last democratically-elected President) -- so I'm not seeing how the Clinton part is a liability.

The Clintons win their fights. If Hillary is the nominee, she'd win a fair and legal election. What's up in the air is a) whether there will be an election at all and, if there is, b) will it be our first fair and legal one since 1996? Not likely. So if Cheney wants to be President again -- well, not being elected twice before didn't stop him from being President the first two times.

  • He ran already

Dick ran already and got sunk during the nomination fight, very very quickly. He's just not charismatic in the least. If there is ANY benefit to our image-obsessed society it's that a creepazoid like Cheney will never stand a chance. Those Republicans who don't outright hate him are afraid of him. Those who aren't afraid of him don't trust him. (And why should they? He shot his friend in the face!) And there's SO much dirt on him that anyone on the Democratic side will have a field day during a campaign. Just think about the attack ads! He is the most un-electable high-profile Republican out there.

Seriously, I'm as paranoid as the next guy, especially after what we've been through lately, but this just ain't happening.

  • umm, waitasec...

Isn't Cheney already the president? He sure seems to think so...

  • DraftCheney.com

Oooh, should I register the domain name? The double entendre would be too delicious.

  • Not a chance

Here's why: he won't disown his lesbian daughter. That means the Religious Rechts can't support him. Too many heads would explode.

  • Cheney/Bolton '08!!!

A Cheney Administration would be the only way to ensure that all the dirty laundry stays hidden, at least a little while longer. Failing that, expect many more Presidential Pardons on January 19, 2009.

Hmmm, can Pardons remain secret? Do they have to be publicly granted and accepted?

  • How to Get Dick to Run

Dick Cheney will be the Republican's '08 presidential candidate if they just put him in charge of the presidential candidate search committee.

Honestly, am I the only one given to the following thought progression? . . . It was hard to see how we'd do worse than Nixon/Kissinger et al. back in the '70's. I never thought Reagan would get elected (or re-elected) and when he did I figured we surely would never see worse. Sigh. Then, of course, it was impossible to imagine the Democrats losing to Dubya back in 2000 or in 2004 and SURELY we could never do worse. And now we're confronted with this frightening prospect???

May the Universal Spirit help us!!

  • He won't run

Dick Cheney will not run for President in the next election, mostly because he's living on borrowed time as it is; he has a pacemaker, he's had two heart attacks so far, and I don't think Mrs. Cheney will stand for it.

He just can't afford to run. Let's see if he makes it out of the VP's office without getting impeached and removed first before casting him as a presidential hopeful.

I sincerely doubt that the Republicans are quite that stupid, too; to have the most hated man in the United States run for elected office is the dumbest thing that could ever happen.

  • Cheney, minion of darkness.

Is the Unitary Executive himself mulling a run?

I hope to God not, and I'm an atheist.

With enough brainwashed conservative voters and rigged voting machines you can do anything, and he's got the Great Right-Wing Noise Machine bought and paid for besides. Don't be surprised if he still manages Great Media Support to win even though his ratings are in the teens.

You don't just write off an Ultimate Corporatist like Cheney, no matter how deeply he's been exposed as a greedy militaristic con man.

  • My dream ticket for the GOP nomination

would have to be Gingrich/Inhofe, two of the most unlikeable politicians to ever (dis)grace the public stage. Cheney would tap into the dark side of the force and use some jedi mind tricks and end up in office, and probably with Ashcroft as his vice president, so no thanks, keep him out of the race.
