Easy Answer to Pentagon's Middle Finger

Withdraw all war funding for Iraq.

There. That was direct and to the point.

The DoD Undersecretary is a political appointee

For Bush, it's all politics, all the time (with politics for Bush meaning, how much money can he loot from the U.S. Treasury for himself and his friends?). The Undersecretary is merely doing Bushie Boy's business.

January 2009: the people of the United States reclaim their country from the Bush den of thieves and murderers.

Hmm

Not that I disagree with you, Digby, because I don't. It really is outrageous that the Pentagon should suddenly start showing this kind of attitude towards a senator doing a senator's job. Talk about getting too big for their britches!

But just what is it about the Pentagon's statements that makes you think there's a particular gender bias involved? I don't see anything in that wording that indicates they're making any kind of hash out of Clinton's being a woman. Could it be that they're just lashing out because she's pressing a point they don't want to hear, and not out of any "settle down, little lady" condescenscion?

I know it's tempting to draw that kind of conclusion, but unless there's some backup there, it just weakens your point and makes you look like you're putting words in their mouths. Best to leave that to those who don't actually have a serious point to make, and thus have to stoop to ill-conceived innuendo.

Not as bad as Reid, Durbin

Perhaps the DOD has just reached a tipping point where they aren't going to allow the Democrats to continue undermining the troops but this isn't as bad as Durbin and Reid's smearing of the troops.

There must be more to it.

She does have no business telling the military what to do anyway, she isn't C.I.C. yet....

Hillary Wants Us Out of Iraq?!?

It's curious that suddenly Hillary wants us out of Iraq. If my memory serves me correctly, she's been a war supporter all along. It's too bad that she's as slimy as all the rest of those presidential candidate clowns, saying whatever they think will get them in office, basically lying through their teeth. Now this lifelong Democrat supports only one candidate--one that is TOTALLY honest, that hasn't changed his stance supporting the Constitution of the United of America, who hasn't been compromised, whose love of this country supersedes his ego--Ron Paul!

She's a SENATOR, you morons

She should wheel a guillotine up to the front door of the Pentagon as a warning to the other shitheads.

Thursday, July 19, 2007 05:19 PM

watch out...

By executive order, King George says he can now take all of Hillary's assets and property as punishment for such talk.

But 1: The sexism is implied in that Hillary is the only senator called out in this statement, while there are dozens more senators, representatives, and candidates requesting the same information. Why call her out on it, specifically, and not the committee?

And 2: When the Pentagon tells its overseers to fuck off, it should probably be a red flag to you morons. Senators and other house members are not trying to dictate tactics or even request that detailed tactics be provided publicly, they are askings for general PLANS. What is the goal, how do you plan to get from point A to point B, generally? Something the Pentagon has failed to provide from the get-go. Leading anyone who's paying attention to realize there were never any plans to begin with outside of a cocktail napkin with Rummy's chickenscratch stating "Strategy for Iraq: Shock and Awe! Take oil. Build base. The end."

You don't want to deal with their political appointees in the Pentagon?

Stop funding the crime.

Impeach the criminals.

Their political appointees won't be a problem any more.

Missing Something

Am I missing something or wasn't it Republican Nixon who had the embassy staff helicoptering out of Saigon as the Viet Cong moved in and cowboy Republican Reagan who ran from Lebanon at the first blow from the militants and McCain and a flock of Republican chicken-hawks who screeched at Clinton to get out of Somalia (and Bosnia for that matter). Maybe the Pentagon should be calling for the Republican leadership to be shipped to Guantanamo for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

Hillary and Way

Elleanee,

To answer your question: No your memory does NOT serve you correctly...perhaps it is Alzheimers. Hillary is against the war as is Ron Paul.

Thursday, July 19, 2007 06:04 PM

At Least the Pentagon is being consistent

They had no plans for what to do with Iraq once we went in.

They've had no clue over the last 4 1/2 years we've been there.

Why should Senator Clinton be surprised that the Pentagon is a little sensitive about not having the faintest idea how the hell to get out?

I imagine there are a few uniforms in the Pentagon getting the Shinseki treatment right now for suggesting the same thing that Hillary has.

Somebody, Please Pour It On More

Hilary might come out strong, saying that W. Bush fooled her just as he fooled the rest of us. She should say that she strongly, bitterly regets her vote in favor of Iraq.

She, or anybody, could create a clear alternative to the Republican brutal weasals. Why in the world does she not do it?

People who voted for W. Bush want a leader who says that W. Bush fooled them. Then, they can change sides, and vote for Hillary. My mother is one such person.

Simple. Make a big point of how he fooled you, how embarrassed you are to be fooled, but you never will be fooled again.

Many women love Hillary's accomplishments, but they need absolution in order actually to vote for her, especially given that their near-Alsheimers, formerly-okay-but-now-simple-minded old husbands hate Hillary for no good reason.

These people are trash

If the democrats gain the White House in 2009 the first order of business must be to flush all the Bush appointed trash out of the government. The second order of business will be to flush all the Bush enablers into the sewer where they belong, this garbage included

Ad hominem, all the time

With the Undersecretary's attack on Clinton, we have yet another confirmation that Bush and his apologists are utterly dishonest and unwilling to have a serious debate on Iraq. Criticize a Bush policy? All you have to do is wait, and like day follows night, the Bush machine will accuse you of aiding the terrorists. If Bush won't compromise, what are his opponents' options but to force withdrawal?
