A Snow job on Libby

As the House plans a hearing, the White House press secretary mounts a factually challenged defense.

The letters thread is now closed.

Too bad

I agree with what Snow claims Bush believes: "pardons and commutations should reflect a genuine determination to strengthen the rule of law and increase public faith in government".

Too bad the commutation didn't in this case.

What would parole violation be?

Would Libby be restrained from commikting further acts of perjury or obstruction?

If he did so, would he then be hauled to jail?

Who would his Parole Officer be? Gonzales?

Please. I'd laugh if I could stop weeping.

Of course Tony Balony Snow is "proud' of his president

What else would this utter ass-kissing son of a bitch say?

He is the "Baghdad Bob" of the Bush administration.

just when you think...

..they can't go any lower..they do! You'd think they'd all be very quiet about this. Because shameless doesn't even begin to cover the quality of Snow's propaganda.

You know, you probably can't be President without being some kind of freakazoid, but, christ, the least these guys could do is spin, lie and obfuscate with a little more style. They spin and lie as if to say "yeah, we can lie to you all day, we can be as morally and intellectually bankrupt as the worst tinpot dictator, and do it all in the most transparent and obvious fashion, and you can't do shit."

It's that condescending Babs-Bush attitude that just slays me. I guess it's a bit like asking for them to use a little K-Y, instead of just ramming it home, dry as a bone.

What A Crock

Tony Snow actually said in reference to the Juvenile Delinquent occupying the Oval Office the he's a person who

"believes pardons and commutations should reflect a genuine determination to strengthen the rule of law and increase public faith in government."

It's official: reality and farce at the White House are now one and the same, completely indistinguishable.

Man, and I thought I was high in 1968...

Tony Snow's poor brain...

At some time in the (hopefully) not-so-distant future, once Bush is gone and Tony Snow has moved on to some other job, there will come a point when poor Mr. Snow's brain will simply implode from the massive amount of accumulated dissonance he must carry around.

I know we humans have an amazing capacity for holding clearly conflicting thoughts in our minds while continuing to function normally. But the mental acrobatics this guy is forced to engage in every day are just astounding.

One day he'll just wake up, finally think "wtf?", and his brain will melt.

The Civil Case?

The Wilson's still have their Civil case, right? Perhaps Libby (and Cheney) will avoid prison but still have to pay a large financial judgment. Like OJ Simpson.

Hasn't learned

Some may view this as a tasteless comment - too bad - but it's disappointing that Tony Snow, confronted head on with his own mortality, hasn't reflected on just what his endless slick arguments, propagandizing, bobbing and weaving are actually enabling. Someone as smart as he must surely have the capability to see the truth of Bushland; especially given that Snow was quite critical of Bush in his prior-to-Enabler In Chief job. Is he just that shallow?

wait for it ...

The MSM haedlines will shout:

"LIBBY PARDON DEMANDED BY LAW"

The Question that Must Be Asked at Every Turn

If the President agrees that Lewis "Scooter" Libby perjured himself and Obstructed Justice, as he claims to since he has repeatedly said that he agrees with the verdict; then we need to ask him:

What is being done to correct the Lies that Libby told under oath, and what is being done to bring about the Justice that he obstructed.

His crimes are acknowledged, yet nothing is being done to undo them. Why is no one attempting to hold his administration responsible for that fact?

You forget - he came from Fox

They've all sold some body part or soul to Satan in exchange for immortality and an infinite supply of virgins and brains to eat.

EMStoveken

This person is right on the money. I heard Bush remark about those same points. These guys are sloppy. If all shrug was commute the sentence why hasn't Pelosi or Biden or, even, Clinton ,screamed bloody murder about these points?

A question the press corp, if they were real journalists

"Now that Scooter Libby won't be going to prison, will the Vice President re-hire him as his chief of staff?"

"If not, why not?"

The inappropriateness of his re-hiring speaks to the inappropriateness of his freedom.

More SnowJob

I spent the day yesterday volunteering at the U.S. Vets 4th of July BBQ here in Vegas, (they provide comphrehensive services for homeless veterans, of which we have about 4,300 here in the Las Vegas area).

One of our congresscritters, Shelley Berkley, showed up to speak and confer some medals.

I took her aside and asked the following:

“Tony Snow yesterday admitted that the President and his top advisors had been discussing for several weeks the ‘appropriate’ response to the pending decision on Libby’s appeal for a stay of sentence. How many other convicted federal appellants do you suppose have gotten similar monitoring and deliberation regarding the progress of their in-process stay requests by the Bush administration?”

Her immediate, angry reply? “Oh, none, you can count on it.”

I asked emphatically that she and her fellow legislators loudly include this in their arguments against this execrable insult to America.

Bush didn’t even wait for the ink to dry on the denial-of-stay order. It was a done deal from the outset of Libby’s conviction (with the pardon obviously to follow, on Bush’s last day in office). Of course, we all know that, but for John Q. NoClue, this specific point needs to be hammered relentlessly, in addition to all the others.

I have written all my other legislators (Reid, Ensign, Porter) and will continue. I have never been more pissed. They’re counting on just arrogantly riding this out. Don’t let it happen.

Fundamentalist End-Of-Days Take on All This Lying And Such

At the end of the world, the Bible says we will have many false teachers and false prophets. Are Christian right-wingers starting to get the idea that their own politicos and preachers actually are the false teachers and false prophets?
