Seriously, why isn't Dick Cheney in jail by now?
A regime tortures because it likes to torture.

They have not placed any effective checks on the administration. You would hope for investigation and impeachment but nooooooooooooooooo. I'm not surprised by Cheney's apparently criminal behavior, sadly I still harbor an apparently unfounded hope that Congress would do something about it.
after the impeachment of Dick Cheney, and the trial to the Senate, and the guilty verdict and removal, and the subsequent indictment, trial and conviction by a jury of his peers for crimes against the Republic and against humanity in general . . . a nice public execution - heck - make it pay-per-view so it becomes a way to offset the costs of prosecution - might serve as a deterrent to future potential crimes by high office holders.
One of the biggest mistakes in Watergate was not impeaching Nixon, and allowing Ford to pardon him. If Nixon had spent the remainder of his life in Leafvenworth, instead of gazing at the Pacific from El Casa Pacifica in San Clemente . . . perhaps Bush and Cheney would have been less inclined to shit upon the Constitution, the Geneval Conventions and the US Code.
"Even as the twin towers fell on 9/11, Cheney and his then legal aide, David Addington, began planning an expansion of presidential powers."
No such thing had ever occurred to them before, of course.
Why do I have the feeling that Prick Cheney is making a list of his own? Not a long list. Just two things on it. Names, actually. And a whole lot of very angry doodles.
In the future to find out what dirt Cheney has on Bush. The relationship is too one-sided and Cheney has far too much power over Bush. Clearly Bush owes Cheney big-time or is scared of him big-time. There's no other rational explanation for the Vice President's power. Vice Presidents have zero power unless the President allows it. Dick Cheney has power for no other reason than that George Bush has given it to him.
Aside from the alarming implications, it's fascinating to wonder why. Politically, Cheney has done nothing but damage the Bush presidency. Any other president would have long ago either sacked or marginalized such a political liability. Bush gives Cheney more power.
Don't hold your breath waiting for autarky to yield the floor to you.
6. The order. In the Post's telling, Cheney and his team pretty much single-handedly came up with the plan to send detainees to military tribunals rather than civilian courts; they shortcircuited a panel that was supposed to be considering the issue, rejected the complaints of Attorney General John Ashcroft, and kept their plan secret from Condoleezza Rice and Colin Powell. After ordering that the plan be kept out of any staff review, Cheney got Bush to sign it by hand-walking it to him at lunch in the private dining room near the Oval Office. Here's the core problem. Bush was willing to bypass his own appointees to placate Cheney, and on such a radical idea as 21st-century star chambers. In short, Cheney owns Bush, in the way a pitcher with a knack for striking out Ken Griffey Jr. is said to "own" Griffey. The corollary problem is that said appointees, particularly Bush's confidante Rice, let it happen instead of raising holy hell.

Our "elected" President is, by signing this into law as his arm is twisted, showing he is for all intent and purpose either intimidated by this Darth Cheney bully or fully compliant with the parallel government instituted by Cheney and his handlers.
My living God.
What would the GOP be dong if Gore pulled this crap? This #6 is the scariest of the ten as it actually shows the M.O. of Cheney and his power over shrub via the willingness of Bush to acquiesce. What does this nihilist "have" on our cowered president? Where are the Dems on this one? What the hell is it going to take to remove these bastards? Cheney shooting Bush?
Get these disgusting criminals out of the People's House. Move them to Gitmo, ASAP.
Before we get all mushy about how the WaPo's scrutiny of Cheney might mean that Graham fils finally sees the light, we should ask ourselves: what is the Post trying to distract our attention from? Iraq? Scooter's sentencing? I don't know, but it's time to be vigilant.
The real enemy of Constitutional government and human freedom is not so much the Iraqi taking potshots at our occupying troops, but the guy sitting in the room next to the Oval Office concocting new ways of subverting the Constitution and imposing the will of the neocon triumvarate (Cheney, Rove, Bush) on this nation by lies, intimidation, and force if necessary. His abuse of the Vice Presidency is very well documented. Go to Rep. Dennis Kucinich's website to read the Articles of Impeachment that have been introduced against Mr. Cheney in the House and then write your representative in Congress and demand action on this matter.
I'm not. Is there anything Dick Cheney does that can actually shock someone nowadays.
Impeach him or forget about him. That's the only choice left.
Bush and Rice were given notification of an impending attack on the United States by Al Qaeda. They received the notification from the CIA on August 6, 2001, more than 2 months before the attack.
When did Cheney get his notification about the upcoming attack? Two months is plenty of time to plan for "emergencies." And to plan for "emergency powers."
Why doesn't anyone listen to Dennis Kucinich? This man who has been honorable and smart and correct on the issues all along, does not get the respect he deserves. He is right about Cheney. Let's all rally behind Dennis and let our congresspeople know we want to support impeachment of Dark Dark Dick.
