The FEC is arguably one of the most important offices in the country, and handing it to some political hatchet man from Rove's backyard could be one of the stupidest moves the Democrats could let slide. Let him Stay Under Consideration in Comittee forever
Busn is never going to nominate some for the position that will not actively try to hurt the Democrats chances of winning elections so it is pointless to fill the position. Just let him rot in comittee. If Bush complains, just blandly say "These things take time." The general public is not going to give to figs about this as long as the Democrats don't make an issue.

I read the story from your link...big woop. The fact is, we, as a nation have the right, and the responsibility to look at every Bush nominee with suspicion first. The "benefit of the doubt" is reserved for people with excellent track records who have an incidental question mark, not those with hideous track records with incidental excellence. Bush can trusted to pick incompetent cronies who march in lock-step to his ideology the vast majority of the time, so it has become responsible and prudent to doubt vigorously, even harshly.
This is nobody's fault but Bush and his incompetent cadre of loyalists. They suck at just about everything, to the point that it seems intentional.
"Echo chamber"...that's amazingly ironic when used to describe Salon, in defense of anyone related to Bush.

...the worst thing that anyone can say with any objective credibility about this nominee is that he favored a law requiring photo i.d. to vote. So that is what counts as "wanting the roll the clock back 50 years on voting rights."
I'm still trying to figure out why this issue, so mild and inconsequential, seems to have drawn out some of th more rabidly-consumed Bush-haters. Are all the psychotherapists on summer break?

Also, it's possible to know Bush is incompetent, judge him solely on his extensive record of sucking at everything, and still not hate him. Imagine just looking at what he and his admin have done, and assessing it honestly...crazy and unhinged as that may sound to an apologist, it's actually reasonable.
