State GOP official: Another 9/11 will prove Bush right.

  • Wow.

    We NEED another attack?

Sounds like this guy is supporting the terrorists instead of the troops, advocating a "strategy of surrender" and being an all around idiot.

No wonder he works for the GOP.

  • I'm not sure which is worse...

That he doesn't get that more attacks on American soil would be the very definition of failure, or taht he seems to think that we need a few more attacks to keep us in line.

I mean, of course republicans desire and benefit from attacks on american soil, but it really surprises me to hear one say it so clearly.

  • Umm...

The President himself says that his policies are right because there hasn't been another 9/11. So wouldn't another 9/11 prove that the President's policies are NOT working?

  • Let's go for it!

Maybe if we all petition the Lord with prayer...

  • Do the Math

Politicians should really stick to politics and leave math alone. First it was Romney with "null set," when it's clear he doesn't have the faintest idea what "null set" really means. Now it's this clown.

Does he realize that the most reasonable interpretation of his comment is that he means he's not standing behind the President? Or that he's standing in front of the President? Or perhaps that he's standing behind the President, but facing the other way?

    150%. What a boob.

  • Scary Stuff

Quotes like this make me inhabit the mind of Oliver Stone, in that I remain convinced that Bush is 150% capable of suspending the Constitution in the case of another attack and appointing himslef to be President for life.

    Crazy .... and yet......

  • @sarabethg

"You CANNOT petition the lawd with prayuh!

    ...Can you give me sanctuary?"

If anyone thought 1967 was surreal.

  • cui bono?

I know that's what I'll be asking in the event of another terrorist attack on US soil. Mr. Milligan is oddly forthcoming about the answer.

  • Dennis Milligan should shut up...

because he's giving Karl Rove ideas.

Not that Rove hasn't already been pondering this option himself.

Tails will be wagging dogs before primaries and elections...just watch.

  • I stand a hundred and fifty percent...

... by a giant pink elephant named Peaches.

Excuse me, I've been into the bathtub gin again.

  • I hope he's behing the President

    with a broom and shovel.

The frightening thing is...his statement will resonate with alot of people. Sadly, I think 9/11 gave alot of people somesort of compass in their lives. It became more than just a ghastly act of hatred, it took on a weird spiritual dimension (only in sheltered, pampered America). Its lustre is starting to fade, so another episode would rejuvinate alot of these dead enders.

Statements like this just play to that crowd.

  • And his inference would be ...

that every day there ISN'T an attack is proof of the utter failure of the President's policies.

  • What's wrong with this guy?

That is such a flat out crazy thing to say.

Has he been dating Ann Coulter or something?

  • My email to teh Arkansas GOP

email I just sent to the Arkansas GOP

    __________

Lemme see if I got this right:

Your head guy Dennis Milligan wants to see another 9/11 attack on this country to “bring the naysayers around” to admit what a Big Swingin’ Hero George Bush is?

    e.g.,

“”At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001],” Milligan said to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country…”

Notwithstanding that such an attack would simply demonstrate Bush’s inability to “pertect the Murkin Peeple from them Terrists”?

    Y’all are beautiful. LOL!

  • If we get "attacked"

once again on our own soil, it will be George Bush's fault for inciting this chaos not the fault of anyone else. This type of crap is just pre-spin dogma that touches all the neo-con bases. If we don't get attacked: "Just wait, we will"; if we get attacked it'll be: ""see I told you so".

It's what shapes a lunatic's reality when one uses fear as a political tool. George Bush and his followers are mean-spirited madmen...

  • hmmmm...well maybe that could be arranged

Perhaps another one could be arranged so that the military industrial complex can continue making lots of money and our reckless cabal of unelected henchmen can continue to reap the spoils of war. And of course if such and unfortunate occurance should occur we'd have to suspend all our civil liberties and even the persidential elections to deal with the crisis. This may be more likely than unlikely.

  • The Republicans are bombing, so they pray for another bombing

Let's hope all they're doing is praying for another terrorist attack to throw the country into a political death spiral, versus actually working to ensure one happens.

Given how much they lie, I can imagine some right-wingdings launching a bogus terrorist attack, the blame being pinned on Islamists (Remember Oklahoma City, y'all? People immediately assumed it was Muslims, and that rush to judgment wasn't even encouraged, it just happened), and use that to fire up the nation for more War Without End. A Reichstag fire, 21st century style! Treason's only called that if you're caught doing it!

  • What it would prove

If, God forbid, there should be another attack of the magnitude of 9/11 on American soil, what it would prove is how hollow and meaningless all Bush's rhetoric about keeping us safe here at home has been. The truth is that he has used the excuse of protecting us from terrorism to pursue a war that actually has much more to do with oil, ideology, profits for his big corporate sponsors and his complex relationship with his daddy, while failing to take recommended measures to improve the security of our ports, chemical plants and nuclear facilities. After all of Bush's speechmaking we are still frighteningly vulnerable. The only reason that there have been no further 9/11 type attacks up 'til now is that the terrorists evidently have decided that it is in their own best interests to keep things going as they are. As things are they have us bogged down in a seemingly endless quagmire situation, bleeding out our precious resources, both economic and human, while the hatred against us grows ever more inflamed and new recruits flow into the jihadist ranks with every passing day. That's how Bush is "protecting" us!
