Gonzales vs. Gonzales

In the final act of her testimony, Monica Goodling seems to contradict earlier statements from the attorney general.

The letters thread is now closed.

Revoke her immunity

Monica was giving limited immunity on the condition she would tell the whole truth about these firings. It's pretty clear that she was evasive and determined to not tell what really happened. I say revoke her immunity and prosecute her for her crimes.

Not fully accurate?

Does it really take so much courage to call a lie a lie???

Staying tuned

If Conyers' "stay tuned" comment means that we can expect a parade of neocons to be indicted, convicted and imprisoned, then he's my hero.

She's lying

You can see it in her eyes. What arrogance, what hubris these evangelicals have. What hypocrites they are. If there really is a god, and he is not a vindictive bastard (a pretty unsafe assumption), the republican party will soon go the way of the dodo.

nothing to see, move along, eh?

You know, I'm beginning to think that if I asked a random GOP House member if the sky was blue, they would insist that the sky, was, in fact, bright orange, and then go outside, point at the sky, and say "see? Orange. What did I tell you?"

How fucking stupid do they think we are? Well. Scratch that. They KNOW how stupid their Base is. They've been depending on that fundamental fact for a long, long time.

Man. A person hardly knows what to say. Even an idiot could see that Goodling's testimony there at the end is very damaging. What planet is Lundgren living on?

Watching the Republicans spin so desperately...

it boggles the mind to think about what they managed to sweep under the rug when they were running things. I think we only saw the tip of the iceberg.

How anyone could fail to see that our Justice Department has been fully and illegally politicized is beyond me. The fact that they continue to deny that anything is wrong is simply indecent,

At this point, I'm looking forward to reading my grandchildren's history books about this entire gang -- should be a great read. Too bad it won't be historical fiction.

New Project -- if you care

Read the hearing transcript -- read the outside the hearing room interviews of the Republicans. Pick out their most grovelling efforts to ignore illegalities by Goodling, et al. Identify the local newspaper in their district. Write publishable letter (no obscenities, no jerk, idiot, moron) asking what does Congressman XXXX think he/she is doing? . . . notEing how asking political affiliations is hugely harmful.

If the district seems solidly Republican throw in a zinger . . . "it increasingly looks like the era of Republican control in Washington is over, perhaps for a long time. What if Democrats start asking the same questions? Does Congressman XXXX understand the seriousness of the precedent that this sets? Ms. Goodling admits to going the the FEC records of political contributions -- what would it do for businessmen in DISTRICT if the Democrats were to do the same on US contracts?" "If Congressman XXXX is right, maybe people should stop contributing the Republican party?"

Primaries are soon, elections not that far away -- time to start making these clowns feel the heat where it hurts, their chances of reelection.

ONE THING, KEEP THE LETTERS AND E-MAILS POLITE AND PUBLISHABLE--NO FLAMES

"tip of the iceberg?"

Like a Hollywood prop, the tip is all that there is of this ice berg. If a local ma pa corner store was managed in the same manner as Bush's administration, all of the peanut butter jars would be filled with "coke", all the chip bags with "horse" and all the whole chickens would be stuffed with "pot". Oh, and guns would be for sale in the back. "K" street here she comes...

Is there a testicle store within the Bletway?

The Democrats need to find one quickly. As anyone knows from the daily revelations of Media Matters about the inflamed, incendiary, hateful rhetoric spewing from the right, the Bushies and their ilk have no hesitation to demonize Democrats. In response, you get the whiney, spineless, simpering response - "it seems the Attorney General wasn't accurate."

As Joe pointed out in his letter on this subject, Gonzales is a fucking liar! The chief law enforcement official in the country has such little respect for Congress and such disdain for the consequences of breaking the law that he sat in front of the lawmakers with his smarmy little grin and lied to their faces. That's a crime. That needs to be punished. The Democrats have already caved on Iraq and the body count spirals higher. Now, we get this puerile academic bullshit about the AG "not being accurate" in his testimony. If the Democrats don't stand up to this band of badly disguised criminals after they catch them breaking the law, then it is time for a third party.

Liar, liar pants on fire...

So the GOP thinks it's OK for the attorney general to lie under oath eh? Cool. I mean, today's Congressional leadership, much less the common citizen, need this sort of clarification if they are going to continue to be excessive consumers who demand that every need be met with an expectation that they can compulsively lie to get them met. People like Fredo and Bush give them an opportunity to say: "Hey, it must be OK to lie to get what you want if the President, even the Attorney General does it".

Boy things sure have changed. I can remember when a God fearing Christian would be outraged to find someone was lying, for any reason. Go figure. I mean it's not like it's one of the Commandments or anything...

Enough is enough...

Okay, I've had my fill of the head of the Department of In-Justice...Someone, please, wake me when his resignation has been submitted...

Thursday morning snark

Enough with the serious discussion of the imminent end to our brave experiment with democracy. At 231, it was too young to die, but hey, only the good, etc.

Anybody else notice Monica's pancake makeup? It seems to be part of the Xian freak uniform. Maybe it's the Regent University version of the burkha - covering up bare flesh, and all that.

Speaking of which, I haven't seen any full-body pix of the girl. How long is her skirt? How tight? How high are her heels?

If we're on the verge of a fundie takeover, I need to go shopping.
