The letters thread is now closed.

Citizen to Gonzales:

Same to you!

Move on (out, that is).

Wednesday, May 9, 2007 09:46 AM

I agree

Let us move on to the impeachment hearings already, we don't have much time left!

Special Prosecutor(s)

One isn't going to be enough. Just keeping track of the number of scandals and the interconnectedness of the players would be a full-time occupation for half a dozen attorneys.

Are the Democrats sleeping? What more would Bush43 et al have to do to rouse their interest?

Move On - Like in 2000

Yes, Democrats really need to Move On like they needed to do in 2000. After all, moving on was proved to be the right decision for Democrats after the 2000 presidential election. There were no serious consequences and didn't all of that bipartisanship really improve the tone in Washington?

Yep, Democrats need to just let this one go too.

Going according to the playbook

If this is Gonzales' tactic, it is exactly according to their previously secret plan for handling the firings -- just ride out the storm, because they knew what they were doing was wrong. Congress needs to be wise to this. And it is more than just the incident, it is about the whole politicizing of the Justice Department, which is ongoing and pernicious and a danger to equal justice!

Running out the clock...

Gonzo's plan is progressing nicely I think. He's ready to run out the clock for as much of the next 20 months as possible. I say, even if they don't ever get to impeach anyone, keeping the DoJ focused on defending themselves in Congress limits their ability to continue with the regular criminal activities like undermining the judicial and election systems of this country.

It definately is time...

...for Congress to "move on." As in, getting a move on throwing Gonzales' corrupt ass in prison. When and if that happens, watch how fast his conveniently selective memory returns.

The sheer hubris of this man

The more we hear from members of this administration, the more mind-blowing it becomes. Completely banal bureaucrats acting completely omnipotently. As if the issues under question aren't enough, his incredible hubris, the sheer balls of the defense, if defense of the indefensible is possible, is it's own problem.

Albert Gonzales is telling us directly, to our face: "There's nothing here. It's over. I appeared before your committee and I spoke. That's enough for you, all you get. Dismissed."

The man should be pilloried.

move along?

Are these the 'droids we're looking for or what?

Wednesday, May 9, 2007 11:50 AM

Hey, ya little twirpy sleazeball

how about you shut the fuck up about what Congress ought to do and answer the fucking questions before you?

The arrogance of this piss-ant flunky of Dubbya's is quite beyond the Pale.

Wednesday, May 9, 2007 12:01 PM

Hey. up yours

The Attorney General should shut the hell up before he gets subpoena'd as a hostile witness to Congress. His arrogance is overwhelming, and I hope someone in the Senate Judiciary Committee tells him to go fuck himself.

What bloody audacity!

IMPEACH GONZALES NOW

This S.O.B. thinks he can go up to Capitol Hill and give non-answers, then tell everyone it's time to "move on." Democrat or Republican, Congress had better show some self-respect and impeach this weasel. An impeachment trial would be a stellar opportunity to rattle Bush's cage, and the thought of forcing Rove, Miers, etc. to testify under oath should hold a massive appeal. It is time to show these people how our Constitution works. Lord knows they need a lesson, and this is the only way to land a 2x4 on their collective head. IMPEACH GONZALES NOW.

Move On Indeed

In an ironic sense, Gonzales is absolutely correct. It is time for moving on in this matter. But where shall the hopefully soon to be former Attorney General go? There must be a no-bid contractor out there needing a General Counsel.

Once Again the Vague War Powers Clause Fails Us

Our Constitution seems to have it backwards when it comes to starting and ending wars. It only takes a simple majority to declare war while it takes a veto proof super majority to end it, if the President want combat to continue. It really should be the other way around; It should take a super majority to declare war and simple majority that the President can not veto to end combat. When it comes to war, pulling the plug needs a lower threshhold because without the overwelming support of Congress and the American people, it is unlikely to be worthwhile or successful.

World to Gonzales: Move On

What assured me that I could not support Governor Richardson was that he supported Gonzales because the latter "was Hispanic."

If Richardson was concerned about Hispanics he should have been first to call for Gonzo's arrest, then his firing. Mr. Torture Habeas Eavesdropping and Iglesias killer has set all Hispanics back 150 years, not to mention what he's done to the Country. These days of balnket confraternity because of ethnic mtuality are gone, long gone.

Impeach Gonzales

As I understand the Constitution, the Congress can impeach any officer it confirms. That would include Alberto Gonzales. John Conyers is a talented judiciary chair. Give him the funding and he can manage three impeachments simultaneously. Just remember to impeach Cheney before impeaching Bush. Throw in Gonzales as a lagniappe.
