  • Beck

I saw a piece on CNN this morning with Glenn Beck pushing his special. He was being "interviewed" by one of the talking heads. He said he'd seen An Inconvinient Truth and came out feeling the urge to buy a Prius. BUT... Yeah, the Prius comment was Beck trying to appear even-handed and rational. He then started harping on the time line & carbon emmisions. I couldn't watch anymore because I knew that his only purpose was to demonize the movie, Gore, and all Democrats.

It's pretty sad that the environment, climate change, the health of our planet and thus the health of everyone on it has become a political argument.

  • amazing...

    ...that idiot Glenn Beck said:

The goal is different. The goal is globalization. The goal is global carbon tax. The goal is the United Nations running the world.

    *******

these are bad things? At this point, the UN could probably do a better job of running the executive branch of the Federal Government of the United States than the Current Occupant is doing.

Man. These righties are getting desperate. Comparing Al Gore to Hitler. More than a little projection there. Projection does seem to be the Right's most prevalent, and pernicious, neurotic response to reality.

It'd make me laugh, if Beck didn't have millions of listeners who believe what he says.

Every day, every damned day, I am confronted with obvious evidence of the profound stupidity, and dishonesty, of humans in general. It shouldn't surprise me, after all, we're wired for the dishonesty, at least, but it does always surprise me.

Humans will believe the dumbest things. Just check out the series on PBS this week "The Mormons" if you don't believe it. Renews my certainty about the utter idiocy of large swaths of humanity. It's amazing, the way we so mis-use our forebrains.

  • Pot Meets Kettle?

You got to have an enemy to fight. And when you have an enemy to fight, then you can unite the entire world behind you, and you seize power. That was Hitler's plan.

Wait, I thought that was the War on Terror!

  • A couple of points

First -- As I'm reading this story there's an ad for this very same Glenn Beck special playing on the page.

Second -- The obsession with one world government. Even if Al Gore did indeed want one world government (he doesn't) and wanted to cede power to the UN (he doesn't), does Beck recognize there's a slight difference in tactics as well? Blitzkrieg vs. documentary film making. Yes, Al Gore and Hitler are certainly peas in a pod.

Third -- So Beck is going to criticize environmentalists for using "fear" to "sell" global warming, but he has no problem talking, with utmost paranoia, about how the US government is going to collapse if we lower carbon emissions?

    I just love conservatives.

  • Gore isn't Hitler in that analogy, he's the Allies

I think a better analogy would have been the world uniting against Hitler instead of Hitler uniting Germany against the Jews.

The Jews weren't really a threat to Germany, the Nazis were lying, but Hitler was a real threat to the world. Like Hitler, Global Warming is a real threat that will only get worse if nothing is done.

So, if Beck wants to bring Hitler and Nazis into the argument (and isn't he supposed to lose the debate automatically by doing that?) I hope someone throws it back in his face.

  • Wow

I knew Glenn Beck was an unmitigated asshole and a moron who belonged on Fox. I had no idea he was also insane! How is CNN letting him get away with this?

  • "ROUND UP" anyone in opposition OR did Bush invent INSURGENCY?

Fascism of a different kind where Jerusalem moves to Utah and "Smokin' Joe" chameleon like changes colours.

English 101: Connecticut style: is it I before E or is it Truth before Lies?

    IS IT RED?

    IS IT BLUE?

IS IT JUST BLOWN AWAY by 'Shucks and Awe' darn .

    IS IT MY AMERICA

    or merely a NIGHTMARE?

did Adolph visit NUREMBURG, or merely VETO the concept?

  • Pathetic

I saw Beck interviewed on CNN Headline news this morning too, and it made me sick. It was obvious Beck was trying to sound impartial and rational, in other words not anything like himself. It was also obvious the host of the show was feeding Beck b.s. lines, so he could tell his lies.

His Prius comment was a laugher. He actually said he went into a viewing of A Convenient Truth with an open mind. As for the question of how does CNN let him get away with it? The answer is simple: ratings. Also, most rational people probably don't listen to his radio show, so no one will complain about it. It definitely takes a different approach on T.V.

Also, those Glenn Beck advertisements that have been on the site the past few days have been annoying the crap out of me, but I guess you have to pay the bills.

  • What is he saying?

Is he saying that global warming doesn't exist?

  • Gore = Hitler

They must be really terrified Al Gore will jump into the presidential race.

There is an interesting scene in Jesus Camp (a great horror film) that shows one of the kids being home-schooled by his terrifying mother. She doesn't appear very bright or educated, and she ridicules global warming in the most ignorant fashion. Its like she's living in some delusional alternate universe. Everyday there are more findings, more information, about climate change and its man-made causes. The information no longer functions to "prove" global warming, but rather to further our knowledge and understanding of the condition.

I think were seeing the right wing fad coming to an end. Its being relegated to cable news shows and talk radio. It got trendy with the mainstream when Limbaugh first took off, and now its pretty much gassed. That;s why the nonsence spewing from conservatives sounds more and more hysterical.

  • Glenn Beck is an asshole...

...and Salon thought it might be nice to put a big, flashing ad for The Glenn Beck Show right next to this story.

You can't make negative comments about Glenn Beck when your running an ad for the turd, it doesn't make sense.

  • This Is How Madness Looks

I did not watch the Glenn Beck special and only caught a few moments of the PBS special on the Mormons. I couldn't watch for long since I have had far too many up close and personal encounters with the kind of insanity spewed by both to be terribly interested. While the Mormons robotically chant their belief in Joseph Smith as some kind of prophet (who was really a ne'er do well who spent time in jail for various offenses), Beck, who is a Mormon convert, gives an on air rant that is as wild-eyed, desperate, and pathologically obtuse as anything that came out of the mouth of the Madman-In-Chief. And isn't it curious that it all comes on the same day as the announcement 4 years ago of "Mission Accomplished"? Think about it.

Bush vetoes the Iraq pullout bill and calls the Democrats (and the rest of us) "irresponsible".

Glenn Beck in a straight jacket raving climate change is a hoax and comparing Al Gore (and 2000 scientists who almost never agree on anything) to Hitler seeking world domination.

PBS plants a camera and leaves the room while various Mormons blather on like a bunch of brainwashed zombies.

Snapshots from the right. This is the same pathological, unquestioning stupidity and denial that led to "Mission Accomplished"(when the worst was only beginning), Katrina, Mark Foley, Alberto Gonzales, and an inconceivable number of other scandalous cluster-fucks. It hasn't changed. We just woke up. Thankfully.
