  • "No time-tables, please?"

Here again we read another excuse Bush offers us. The fact of the matter is that our soldiers in Iraq would welcome honest time-tables for withdrawal. In this way they would be able to think that their chances of not been killed would become greater. As it is, many will feel like that soldier who wrote to his daughter "any day I'm here could be the day I die". This soldier died the day he wrote this letter. (You can check this out by going to Newsweek's "Special Issue" of April 2, 2007.)

  • What do you care?

The Left and my fellow Democrats mostly treat soldiers, indeed anyone in the military, as being underclass dupes incapable of independent and objective thought as evidenced by the fact that they are in the military.

So let's cut the shit, shall we?

Mostly, you hate them. You think they are stupid. The only real use they are to you is when you can use their sad plight as a way to beat Bush over the head. At any other time, they are grotesque barbarians that ought to be put up on war crimes charges.

Yeah, it's true. Bush can't even see the irony in how callous and cold his attitude is toward the men and women who serve our country. But then, neither can those on the side of the opposition.

  • WAKE UP

What isn't being said enough, and can't be said enough, is the amazing prevelance among the press, citizens and government officials, of the ridiculous belief that if we leave Iraq it will become more violent.

This is a completely arbitrary assumption. Speaking metaphorically, if you keep pressing a knife into an open wound, it cannot heal. We are the knife.

There is no mass of insurgent terrorists waiting to swarm in and take control. If we can't take control, how can a much smaller number of largely disorganized, fractured, splintered, groups take control? What a bunch of crap.

These freaks we have put in control keep telling us that these power hungry irrational factions will somehow come together under one banner of "terror" to create some kind of haven, from which to attack us? It is absurd on so many levels, my mind boggles.

With our 150,000 organized armed forces WE CAN'T CONTROL IT!

Every one of this administration's talking points is a fallacy of such transparency, it is shamefull we haven't outright rejected all of them on their face value.

This is a civil war, waiting to be waged for a lot longer than we have been involved, and like him or not, Sadaam was the dictator brutal and scary enough to keep a lid on it. Good, he's gone, and now these people can fight the war they have "needed" to fight. There is no force on the Earth capable of stopping it.

We may have unleashed it, but we will NEVER be able to control it. It is not our war, and we should leave. It is not our country, and our presence is exacerbating the situation.

The main thing keeping us in there is the macho-ego/horrible foreign policy driven belief that we will be seen as wimps if we "back down", "surrender", etc.

There is nothing wimpy about knowing when to fight and when the fight is not ours. There is, however, extreme wimpery in our press, and our legislative branch that is afraid to do what is necessary for fear of losing sponsors for their inane broadcast news shows, or the next election.

  • For Garry Owens

You have absolutely no scrap of evidence with which to back your broad, silly rantings about 'the left's' supposed hate of soldiers.

Among my large circle of friends you might be tempted to brand 'the left' (though there's not a Marxist among them)I not only count several ex-soldiers (including perhaps my best friend) but many people who care a great deal about soldiers.

I can't think of a SINGLE Democratic spokesperson who has ever expressed anything but genuine concern and respect for soldiers; but unlike the mere lipservice of many self-styled conservative patriots, we do it in ways that don't involve sending them off to die without equipment or to fight wars with no clear goal or end.

You would probably save us all--perhaps most importantly, yourself--a bad case of indigestion and eventual hypertension if you would take a moment to think before unleashing your paranoid rantings.

  • and don't forget....

..that according to Laura Bush, "no one suffers as much" as her and her husband do.

    I don't understand...why is that imbecile still in office ?? He's like Nixon minus a brain !

  • gappytoofcondi

You must run a democrat dentist shop? Who ever comes to gappytoofcondi's dental repair shop, be assured, it's a 24-hour free service. Whatever is to be put up with at the democratic dental shop, know that gappytoofcondi cares.

When the problems get out of hand or a patient becomes a rough and rowdy with a bad tooth-ache, don't call the police or they jail gappytoofcondi. If a fight begins over who sits in the the dental swivel chair, the one had two front tooth's knocked out is called upon first.

The problem about how to govern the shop fair began when Texans began coming there, loitering, and combing their hair there. In front of gappytoofcondi was a crowd of rowdy drunks drinking around the gappytoofcondi dental democracy swivel chair. gappytoofcondi dental shop was a democracy if ever any place was. He non-stopped fixed gaps in the liars mouth. I agree. And in other news, going backward is going forwards.

Its best to floss, brush all day with superglue dental Brillo cream, and pull teeth on a string rapped 'round a door knob. And damn slam the door. And stay away from the gappytoofcondi's democracy dental shop.

Thanks for helping stop the crazies.

  • The young soldiers

Bush would not only imagine, but know what a soldier feels, had he done his duty in Vietnam instead of going AWOL. And that goes for draft evader and war promoter Cheney as well.

  • Garry Owen

Nice strawman arguments. Why debate issues with live human beings when you can make up their opinions for them.

So, going by your logic, sending the troops to war in order to win elections, i.e. '02 midterms, '04 presidential, without necessary equipment, without sufficient numbers is fine and merely shows how much the Democrats/liberals/lefties hate the troops.

It would be hilarious if it weren't so tragic...
