Then treason it is...
If ending an illegal occupation that is the definition of Crimes Against the Peace is treason, then let us be treasonous.
If one less American soldier's death can be achieved by pulling our troops out, then treason should be worn proudly.
If our treasury can be spared having to borrow another 150 billion to fund this mother of all failed wars, then how great the crime of treason has become.
If the country that we occupy, takes to the streets and demands that we withdraw, let's abide them in the name of treason.
If our war crime of failing to keep the peace after occupying a country can begin to be resolved with our departure, then treason becomes noble.
If those who pushed us into this war on deliberately false information are brought to task, and charged with the crimes that they have committed, then there is no higher cause then treason.
If only we can begin to remove our contribution into the war that we caused and has subsequently killed over half a million people, then treason has become a moral imperative.
In truth, I am much more likely to support the charge of treason to those who continue to support, apologize and evangelize for an administration that has worked so hard to destroy our constitution and our democracy.

It's funny, but then it's not funny when people are getting arrested
I can sit here and laugh at DeLay's hyperbole -- but then I have to remember the mass arrests and detentions in NYC during the Republican Convention, all justified by exactly this assumption: that the domestic antiwar movement is in league with Al Qaeda, just like DeLay and Cheney keep saying. Nobody was ever charged in New York, of course, they were just locked up until the threat of adverse publicity had passed. There is no shortage of law enforcement people out there, who take these things to heart and actually believe that those who oppose the war are taking sides with Al Qaeda, and that allowing political dissent would compromise America's security.
It's absurd. As much as we keep hearing about the imminent threat of the next attack, do we really need to divert valuable law enforcement resources to, well, spying on "Peace Fresno"? Doesn't the NYPD have better things to do than track down actors dressed up as "Billionaires for Bush"? So I can only laugh at DeLay's paranoia for so long, but then I'm reminded that a lot of people actually believe him.

eye roll...
Tom DeLay says the current Speaker of the House and the current House Majority Leader are "dangerously close to treason".
Note that the former House Majority Leader stands accused of various crimes during his time in the House of Reps, and is awaiting trial on those charges. Which leads me to think he is "dangerously close" to doing time in federal prison and becoming somebody's personal bitch. A role for which he is particularly suited, having served in that capacity so ably while in Congress.

You buried the lede
The real news in this item is the revelation that Tom Delay actually looked something up. Okay, so he got the definition wrong, or looked in the wrong place, since the definition that would be operative here would be the definition of treason against the United States contained in the Constitution. Hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. First let him get used to the idea of looking things up, a really crucial procedural step obviously totally at odds with his past approach to public life, then give him a copy of the Constitution and the Federalist Papers to work on. Give him a few decades, and who knows, he might end up understanding the basics of a democratic and republican form of government.

What's the point?
Why does anyone even bother to respond to this irrelevant moron any more? I mean, hell, they don't even like him in TEXAS these days!
-
That's strange
I looked up the definition of "complete asshole who is likely to be gang-raped in prison in the next few years" and there was a picture of Tom DeLay.
What a coincidence.....
-
Put a bullet in his head
Seriously, someone please shoot that guy in the face.
-
We should all be grateful
That a guy like DeLay can make a statement about someone else's betrayal of trust is a tribute to freedom of speech in this country.

The President DID commit Treason!
As shown on Countdown the other night, Bush gave a talk standing in front of a HUGE picture of the EXACT locations of Allied Troop deployments in Baghdad.
As the VoteVets.org spokesman commented, terrorists could easily tell the exact target locations for mortar attacks on our troops.
Another example of the President's hatred for our troops, as well as Treason.
This latest deliberate exposure of the troops to danger joins 1) sending troops without body armor, 2) sending troops without armored Humvees, and 3) the Pentagon saying "no" to manufacturers who offered to speed up production of armored
Humvees.

Tom Delay's dictionary
trea * son: (TREE-zun)
1. (n) The actions of a person who is not a member of the Republican party of the United States of America
2. (n) The act of disagreement with Republicans.
Tom Delay should look up "fascist". I know it's overused by liberals, but in his case it really does apply.

What's funnier?
That a senator leader would call another senator treasounos for disagreeing with the administration?
OR
That a sitting senator would need to "lookup" the definition of treason?
Either way, I think Tom DeLay is "getting very, very close to" a nervous breakdown.

So, Treason is "betrayal of trust"
So who has really betrayed the soldiers fighting for us in Iraq? Pelosi, or the Republican dominated congress that sent them off to fight without adequate numbers, armour, or training. Who betrayed this country into going to war in the first place? Reid, or the administration that conflated "terrorism" and "Hussein" until people were so confused that they were willing to accept this travesty as part of the "War on Terror"? For that matter... who told voters that he was going to run for office as the Republican candidate, then betrayed his contributors and constituents by trying to get out of the race as soon as he won the primary? Hint: It wasn't Reid or Pelosi.
Okay, "betrayal of trust" isn't all there is to treason, but if it were, DeLay and this administration would be the most treasonous in U.S. history.
