Impeaching Cheney will defacto impeach a President, as the V.P. of Torture, is in fact the real President running the country from an "undisclosed location".
Once he tumbles, Shrub can disclose his drinking problem and go quietly into the night leaving behind a divided, if not ruined, country and devistated Middle East.
Lots of shrub left unattended back at Crawford, lots of tumbleweed left unattended in the world...

As an added bonus
With Cheney out of the way, people won't be so afraid of Bush not being president.
Now, before any of you Bush-lover bloggers out there claim that I'm calling for the president to "meet with an accident", I'm merely referring to the fear many liberals have of impeaching Bush, only to then be forced to deal with the even worse evil that is Dick Cheney. I really would like George to be around for years to come to try to explain how he thought he had a good idea.

If these 2 fuckers aren't impeached by the time their terms are up, I don't ever want to here about Clinton's impeachment ever again.
The bar is set so high now for the amount of shit you'd have to do to get impeached that no one short of a president who nuked his own country would ever be removed.
The next president can literally do whatever he/she wants to do without restraint and have no fear of punishment. That's how badly our government works now.
We are stuck with 2 crazy assholes and no way to save ourselves until the next election.

1. Let's not be so happy about impeaching the VP. We totally should, but I'm just saying, that's a dark day for our country when that is necessary.
2. Why does this make me want to pat Kucinich on the head and say, "Aww, aren't you just CUTE?" Well, you did call it "windmills"... (And I'm 6' and he's what, 4'2"?)
3. Even though this is probably pointless, we do need some people somewhere to keep the heat on, like K and Feingold, just to remind us of where we want to be even as we negotiate and compromise with others (and rightfully so, that's politics).

This is an interesting approach,
and outstanding political deftness on Kucinich's part. It does several things at once - side-steps the 'controversy' over impeaching Bush, points up the power and culpability of Cheney, and, one hopes finally gets the ball rolling so the rest of the bums, starting with Bush, get thrown out. We cannot let stand what they have done!

Post Cheney?
While I am not holding my breath in the expectation that Cheney will indeed be removed from office - as lovely a thought as that is - it is amusing to speculate who Bush might nominate to fill the resulting vacancy. I suppose he might ask Cheney to again manage the search, but since this time he could not end up putting himself forward, who could possibly be the Cheney 2.0? John McCain has started to sound like he could fill the slot, and it might be the only thing that could now boost his presidential bid. But to my mind the only plausible candidate is ... Joe Lieberman. Making him Veep at Last!

It's not about Bush or Cheney
Impeachment isn't about Bush or Cheney. It's about their successors. If there is no serious effort to impeach them, future presidents will have to be even worse before they can face impeachment. Even an unsuccessful effort, however, will set an historical precedent, leaving open the possibility that only contemporary politics protected Bush and future presidents can't assume immunity. I've never bought the argument that removing Bush would put Cheney in the presidency because Cheney and every subsequent president would know their predecessor got involuntarily removed. I don't buy they removing Cheney anoints his successor as the next president because again, that successor will know his predecessor didn't get away with his crimes. Besides, Congress has to approve an appointed VP, and I doubt they'll approve an obvious GOP presidential candidate. If they did, that candidate would get incumbency, but also be saddled with Bush's problems.
