Something did not go right

That is the story of the Iraq adventure from day one, what else is new?

Whatever happens, don't criticize

In other words, we're a bunch of screw ups who screwed up from the beginning and are continuing to screw up, but don't criticize our screwing up because it gives comfort to the enemy, which screwing up doesn't do.

The word screw here is a euphemism.

Parliament bombs are just life.

"I mean, it's frustrating when something like that's happened. And we all get frustrated." Yeeees. We ALL get upset when our parliament gets bombed. It's frustrating at first, but we ALL eventaully grow up and get used to it. They shouldn't be such babies about it.

This is the clap for Tinkerbell strategy

...and if there's any runty little child in the world who doesn't clap for Tinkerbell, she dies.

I wish this was a joke, but I don't think it is. Peter Pan is really and truly the president of the US--and Caption Hook is his veep.

The only place we'll ever 'win' in Iraq is in Neverland.

Obvious?

If all close our eyes, plug our ears, and keep our mouths shut, we'll never say or hear anything bad about Iraq. At that point, we become victorious. Have I got that right?

Green Zone Security

In reading about this attack I noticed that the responsibility for security within the area of yesterday's bombing lay with a "private contractor."

In bouncing from one article to another I don't remember where I read it but I do remember that the "private contractor" was unnamed.

I'm curious to know which one of the 100,000 or so private contractors ("entrepreneurs" in Bushese) feeding at the big Baghdad cash trough will step forward and take responsibility.

Freudian Slips

I count three in the last three days. Paraphrasing in each case, parenthesis inserted by me:

Dana Perino commenting on the need for a War Czar: We're looking at someone who has a higher caliber (than the president), i mean a strong leader who can work with the Sec's of State and Defense.

Gen Gates on the reason for extending tours of duty to 15 months: Our hope HAD been, Our hope HAS always been that this would take months not years

Then, the general in this posting says, Well, I think it's like everything else (we've done in Iraq for the last 4 + years)," Odierno said. "I mean, it's -- something didn't go right."

Green Zone shmean zone. The circle is closing in on these knuckleheads.

George Bush gave all the "aid and comfort to the enemy" that was needed the second he sent 1/3 of the necessary troops to fight his war of choice. Heck of a job shrub.

All hell will break lose the minute the "surge" looks like it's becoming effective. In past postings I have suggested that "certain" members of the Bushit lemmings sit and have a coffee just outside of the Green Zone. It now appears like a better spot might be in Kuwait...

Private contractors

Private contractors are accountable to only those who pay them.

The current situation in Iraq is very profitable. Destabilizing Iraq and setting Sunnis against Shiites is an advantage to some parties. It is no mystery why someone let this happen.

It's called divide and conquer, it's just the order has been reversed. How many "sectarian" incidents of bombings and other attacks between the Sunnis and the Shiites come from third parties such as unregulated and unfettered paramilitary mercenary private contractors in the employ of defense contractors, foreign nationals and intelligence agencies?

You can bet that no one in the U.S. press will ever look into that.

This sort of thing didn't happen under Saddam Hussein yet the press paints a picture of these "uncivilized" people as always at each other's throats.

After hearing enough lies, one begins to assume that whatever is said by the government and the press is exactly the opposite of what is really happening and what is really true.

If peace came to Iraq and the Sunnis and the Shiites embraced each other then the gravy train for the defense contractors would end.

We can't have that.

"Someone set us up the bomb."

"All your base are belong to us."

Al qaeda means base, database, foundation and toilet.

All qaeda belongs to U.S.A..

"You are on the way to destruction."

Sounds about right, doesn't it?

"You have no chance to survive make your time."

Sounds about right, doesn't it?

This phenomena hit big in early 2001 and the Lone Gunmen pilot episode with the plot to fly a remotely controlled passenger jet into the world trade center to benefit arms merchants and defense contractors was aired in March of 2001.

No conspiracy, just coincidence. Who wrote the script?

The private contractors have to go. The people who pay for them deserve some "Great justice".

We are not there yet.

Frustrated

So, anyone who voices an opinion outside of the contrary to the progress spin is emboldening the "enemy". Nice.

This line is so tired it's shocking that these people can still wheel it out with a straight face. I supposed the only thing keeping them from laughing is how utterly depressing and disastrous the entire situation really is. So I guess it's OK to be "frustrated" (heck we all get frustrated) as long as you keep lying like the Americans and say things are improving. Because as any of the American leadership will tell you, that's the only way we can "win".

WAR CZAR

Why doesn't McCain or Liebernman put their damn money where their mealy mouths are and volunteer to be Czar?

Another aniversary

While Iraq seems a remake of Vietnam there is another aniversary that seems sadly prophetic. Thirty years ago the band Genesis released the album Wind and Wuthering. One of the more memorable songs was One For The Vine. It's opening lyrics began as follows:

Fifty thousand men were sent to do the will of one.

His claim was phrased quite simply, though he never voiced it loud,

I am he, the chosen one.

In his name they could slaughter, for his name they could die.

Though many there were believed in him, still more were sure he lied,

But they'll fight the battle on.

Four years later in an illegal and immoral war, they fight the battle on. This is just one of many reasons I and many like me say ending and pulling out today is one day too late.
