Administration is Scared to Fire People
Let's not over-analyze this concept of why nobody in this administration is fired.
I guarentee folks in the administration would LOVE for Gonzales to voluntarily resign. But they're scared shitless of pissing him off. He- like the others- knows too much.
If this were the mob they'd just whack him. His stupidity presents a liability that outweighs the usefullness of his blind loyalty. It was inevitable.
His delicate ego has convinced his pee-sized brain that if he can somehow retain his job, the world will not realize he was nothing more than a stooge put in place to allow for corruption.
I believe Bush refused Rumsfeld resignation a few times before accepting it. If Bush would have accepted it on one of the first couple tries, Rumsfeld would've sold them all down the river to make it look like he wasn't the dumbass. As it turned out, the Administration was able to convince him he was a brilliant martyr who was a victim of the liberal media. Disaster averted.
