The GOP's secret weapon?

The letters thread is now closed.

Forget the V.P. of Torture...

The GOP will run (from out of nowhere it will seem) come early September, Jeb Bush for heir apparent and Giuliani for V.P.. Yep. Touching all the "bases". Then be ready for, you guessed it: Cheney as Secretary of State. This time around he will be twice removed from the "leader" but still pulling the strings as long as his arm arties hold out. Then when they give-out they'll lie him in "State" like Lenin but won't have to worry about the embalming fluids. He's so full of shit now they won't be necessary...

Well...well....

Oh yeah... THAT'S A GOOD ONE! and McCain for vice-prez?

Great!

The Republican will never repeal the 22nd Amendment...

....at least not while Bill Clinton is alive and well.

The GOP's secret VICE-weapon?

Why in thew world would Cheney want to run for President? It strikes me he gets far better mileage from convincing whoever wins the Republican nomination to name him as the Vice-Presidential candidate again. Why take all the risks of the top job, especially when he seems so able to pull the strings from the second spot anyway? As far as I can see, there appear to be no limits on the post of Vice President ... why would he want to risk the top job?

Good one!

Hillary could run and win against him.

Shit. Maybe it's not such a good one after all...

Oh, please, please, please, please let me see Dick Cheney's name at the top of the ticket

in '08. After this week's creepy photo of the glowering Cheney observing his sock puppet George Bush making a rare press appearance in the Rose Garden, my mind has been filled with questions about Cheney's lurking presence:

Did George break up with him? Is Cheney now stalking the President? Inquiring minds want to know!

Friday, April 6, 2007 02:15 PM

I've been waiting for this

Actually, I've always assumed that the people who are really running this country behind the puppet George would have Cheney in the oval office around 18 months from the end of George's term. Through impeachment or "other" means.

They've got to be worried about what Georgie Boy is going to do- and say- once his public service is over. I mean, he may have actually been present and awake for some of the discussions that took place. Is he going to get drunk and tell people what was really going on?

Cheney and the others are scared shitles about turning the White House over to someone who might make a big stink about what they find. Who do they trust? Not one of the existing candidates.

Sure Cheney couldn't get the votes, but since when has that mattered?

I usually vote in the Republican Primary

Because here in Texas, that's where the decision is usually made. I would love to have the opportunity to "Vote for a Dick!" and put him on the national ballot. As foolish as we act sometimes, I'm not sure he could carry even this reddest of states.

Sweeeet

"Why vote for the lesser evil?"

YOU'VE MADE ME SMILE

Thanks for the upper for today!

But seriously, who couldn't beat Dick Cheney if he were to, by some miracle induced by the fervent prayer and persuasion of the masses by all right-wing, neocon religious powerhouses and talking heads on Fox, steal (I don't use that word loosely here) the Republican nomination? All of the voting machine fixing in the world couldn't put him even close enough for the supremes to appoint him to the presidency. And even they don't disrespect the Constitution that much to put Cheney officially in office. At least, I don't think so.

Oh, there I go again thinking that human decency, voter awareness and just plain fairness would trump over politics!

Friday, April 6, 2007 11:17 AM

Of course, Cheney's already BEEN de facto President for two terms...

You could almost say it this way -- Cheney has had the best of all possible worlds (while the rest of us have suffered among the WORST of all possible worlds) -- he's been President without being burdened with any of the accountability. He was able to pull the levers of power behind the scenes, while Dubya has been the figurehead out in public.

On the other hand, NO ONE has had any accountability in this administration, at least until Democrats took over Congress in January. Dubya and company have had a virtual blank check up to now, but that check has been torn up at long last.

It would be so sweet to watch a Cheney campaign in 2008 -- kind of like watching Satan run for elective office. The sad part is, there is STILL 20% to 30% of the public who are deluded enough to consider voting for him. Look around you, folks -- who is carrying the Cheney virus? At least two out of every ten people you meet -- now THAT'S frightening!

Why bother running Cheney…

When John Yoo can plausibly argue that the 22nd amendment is a burdensome interference with the President's wartime powers?

But seriously, we should not only get him to run, but also vote for him, and in 2012, if the US still exists, we can rest assured that we'll never have to suffer through another GOP regime.

Remember, sometimes you need to destroy a village in order to save it.

Pinch Me!

And by all means... bring it on!

Friday, April 6, 2007 09:51 AM

Real agenda?

Given his periodic disappearing acts, I wonder if Cheney's health is a lot frailer than is publicly known. If so, he probably wouldn't last through his first term. I can't believe he would run, and I can't believe he would get the nomination, and I want to believe that he would never be elected. But if all of those things happened, his choice of Vice-President would tell all.

"Jeb Bush, white courtesy telephone . . ."

Cheney for president?

I thought April first was on Sunday. Though, he may be running, into hiding, if he knows what is good for him.

Friday, April 6, 2007 09:35 AM

What can I say...

Nothing. So I just laughed. Right out loud.

Don't Underestimate Dick

Of course Cheney will run. He's spent his entire life pursuing the presidency. Every move he has ever made has been a step toward that goal, and he hasn't failed yet. The other Republicans running are just straw men for him to demolish in the primaries. What real Republican is going to vote for Giuliani, Romney or McCain? They have no one else. And when Cheney runs, he will run the most ruthless, vicious and corrupt campaign the U.S has ever seen. Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004 were just dress rehearsals. Are you folks really that confident that he won't pull it off? The surest way to lose a an election is by underestimating the opposition.
