  • SEXUAL MORALITY AND THE MILITARY

AS A VETERAN OF THE MILITARY WITH STINTS IN KOREA AND JAPAN, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE MILITARY AT LEAST TOLERATES PROSTITUTION AS AN OUTLET FOR HORNY SOLDIERS. I SUSPECT THAT SEX IS NOT GEN PACE'S PROBLEM, JUST SEX BETWEEN SAME SEX PARTNERS.

  • Immoral Acts, Huh?

What about the rape of your fellow soldiers. Isn't rape immoral?

I won't hold my breath waiting for an answer.

  • on legislating morality

Military life aside, the biggest misconception christian conservatives have is that you can use Government to make people religious. You can't.

People can’t be forced to live according to a religion if they don’t want too, no matter what you do to them. If you legislate laws against victimless crimes simply because of a religious doctrine and nothing else (no matter how many people agree with it), then you are essentially killing the religion that you are trying to protect. The reason is because if you dictate people’s actions, then faith no longer has any purpose.

Faith and piety can only come from an individual’s sincerity. In other words, from within. Faith can’t be policed, because once you do that, then the people you are policing are no longer pious people with faith. They’re just sheep.

This is precisely why the founders of this country separated church and state. They didn’t do it in spite of their religion. They did it BECAUSE of their religion. They knew firsthand that religious persecution is self-defeating, and to their credit, took steps to try to prevent it from happening.

  • Correction: "victimless behavior" is the correct term

"Victimless crime" is an oxy-moron (like military inteligence).

  • Vote with your feet, soldiers

So Pace doesn't care for homos?

Great! I can't think of a better time to use his latest public regurgitation of bigotry to exit military service with a get-out-of-the-contract-free clause.

All the tens of thousands of gays and lesbians should take this golden opportunity to file for an early out.

At a time when recruiters are so desperate for recruits that they are hanging around Paintball parlors, offering $40,000 bonuses, letting felons sign up for service now comes this idiot Pace to once again remind every gay in the service that he doesn't give them the same rights and protections that the others get, but he doesn't mind throwing them into combat as long as they keep their mouths shut.

Just write a letter to your commanding officer, with a copy to Def Sec Gates at the Pentagon:

"Sir!, I'm gay. I'm a flaming queen. Now you know. So you can't possibly want me serving. Get my paperwork ready to sign. I'm outta here!"

  • One fast way to end this war

All of the soldiers who are sick of being lied to, redeployed, etc. by the gang of self-righteous thugs in the White House and their minions like Pace, should simply claim they're homosexual and call it a day. I'd love to see tens of thousands of our troops leave en masse while General Pace et al. stand their moral high ground.

General Pace's viewpoints, personal or not, do raise the interesting questions of military loyalty to a Commander in Chief who may be gay or might have committed adultery. I'm really wondering what the military's official rules are regarding the morals of the Commander in Chief and others in the Federal Government (especially those in the line of presidential succession) with oversight of the Pentagon in light of the military's own UCMJ?

  • No gym queens please

Well, praising someone for being honest in their bigotry is faint praise indeed. It always comes back to this: gays ARE serving in the military and always have done so. The question is, are we going to be honest about acknowledging it or not? Apparently not.

The usual arguments about "sexual tension" undermining unit morale don't seem to have prevented women from integrating in the forces. What's the diff? Far better to just have a no sex on duty rule, which I believe is the case anyway. Civilians can't have sex on the job either (well, usually). All this is just sex panic leavened with a little biblical outrage. No one can give a rational, well-reasoned answer for this policy. There isn't one.

  • The last time I looked, pre-marital sex of any kind was still considered "immoral"

so its going to be pretty hard to fulfill the staffing requirements at DoD if Pace decides to go with zero tolerance.

  • General Pace and "don't ask, don't tell"

Aside from my total disagreement with General Pace's comments, there is the total disconnect between portions of his comments. He says homosexual acts are immoral and he doesn't want homosexuals serving openly in the military. However, he says he supports "don't ask, don't tell". In other words, he says you can be an immoral homosexual in the military as long as you lie about it and don't get caught! Whether or not homosexual acts are immoral is an argument that can go on all day. However, very few people consider blatant lies to be moral, which is what this policy encourages.

  • How interesting

...that General Pace is not equally willing to stand up and say that an unjustified war, supported by lies and pursued without goals, is equally immoral.

  • They're good enough to fight and die, but they are "immoral."

At a time when recruiters are so desperate for recruits that they are hanging around Paintball parlors, offering $40,000 bonuses, letting felons sign up for service, now comes Gen. Pace to once again remind every gay in the service that he doesn't give them the same respect due to all fighting soldiers. He doesn't mind throwing them into combat and letting them get killed, but with breathtaking gall, he calls them "immoral."

  • Whoa, dude!

I think General Pace just called Dick Cheney's daughter "immoral"!

Better look out, Pete. Ol' Dick might shoot you in the face.

  • Any nuclear aircraft carrier

Comes back to port with more pregnant sailors than it left with. Do the math, Pete.

  • On morality

Because it is so much more moral for a straight person to kill an enemy than it is for a gay person to do so.

    What a load of malarchy.

  • "Methinks the queen doth protest too much..."

So Pace is publicly saying homsexuality is immoral?

I think we've seen this movie before...

I'm willing to bet that if you went into his private bathroom, you'd find all sorts of muscle magazines... For the health articles, of course...

I can see him strutting around the gymnasium now, eying the strapping young lads... purely to be sure they're getting the proper exercise, of course.

And the sharing of a hotel room with members of his staff while on business trips? Why, he's saving the tax-payers money, of course.

I foresee a tell-all book by a former "aide" coming out (no pun intended) in the near future...
