Where's Attorney-gate?
I remember the howls about "travel-gate" when the Clintons allegedly fired travel agents to make room for their friends - where is the outcry over this?

Dude, that's called the confirmation process. It happens to everybody. You _thought_ you could bypass that with a little help from your friends, but you can't.
If he was squeaky clean, I bet he wouldn't have a problem.

Where's our Mighty Wurlitzer?
tee-man's absolutely correct!
While some of the mainstream media has stopped acting as stenographers for the Republicans lately danged if they won't extend the same courtesy to Democrats.
The Republicans still have a major advantage in being able to fire up the "Mighty Wurlitzer" to make non-issues into a crisis of major proportions.
The Democrats still can't make hay out of outright cronyism and corruption that's Bidness as usual with this administration.
Do you think we can get Soros to start his own network?

The same mentality
They are probably going to look for someone more Bush-friendly to fill the position. This the same mentality that would hire a $450 an hour attorney to fight a 50 cent an hour pay dispute. They would rather play musical chairs with people of different points of view or start a war with Iran than listen to anyone with actual common sense. IMPEACH THE MF ALREADY!

Paul J. McNulty, the deputy attorney general, said at a hearing last week that Mr. Cummins had done nothing wrong but was removed to make room for Mr. Griffin.
Judging by the circumstances surrounding the dismissals of other US attorneys, he must have gotten a little too close to the money...

Worse than stated
To begin with, google "Tim Griffin" and see what you find. Here's a hint: it involves voting amongst minorities in a place commonly referred to as the Sunshine State. Second, this provision the Bush administration added to the Patriot Act does not end the term of the interim appointee at the end of the president's term. The appointee serves until replaced. Therefore, if the Senate were to swing back Republican but with a Democratic president, it's not too far fetched to see the Republican Senate blocking a new appointee indefinitely. This was another of this Administration's vast overreaches of power. That a decent, albeit Republican, man like Bud Cummins got run over in the process is of no concern to them. One would think that treating loyal members of your party this way would have reprecussions. We can only hope it will.

BRING CUMMINS BACK....
....and then have him launch an investigation into his firing and replacement by Rove's friend Griffin. Here in Illinois we call it patronage. There have been U.S. Supreme Court rulings outlawing this practice in state governmental jobs. It would be interesting to see if these rulings might apply at that high level involving federal government employees.
