Benedict Lieberman

Joe plans to throw the weight of all seventeen of his hard-core supporters behind a Republican candidate in 2008. Who'd a thunk it?

Monday, January 29, 2007 06:01 AM

And that Republican presidential candidate Lieberman intends to support is...

Joe Lieberman!

Impeach Lieberman

right away. What a turncoat.

I must say it again

I posted a comment earlier about George Bush and that the responsibility for his disastrous precidency must fall on the American people for electing him TWICE. My same comment applies to Lieberman. Connecticut voters knew exactly what they were getting with him, and they threw their votes to him anyway. Shame on them.

Lieberman!

I used to periodically defend the man because I actually am interested in a bipartisan approach to things. But saying he's willing to vote republican without knowing who either the democratic or republican nominees will end up being is both absurd and certainly lays his cards out. Maybe he's hoping that this transitional "independant" phase of his will make it easier for him to get on the republican ticket in 2008. I'd love to see it. It would be his mark in history to be the first vice-presidential candidate to help both parties lose.

saintzak,

Lieberman won the election, in large part, on the GOP turn-out. They stabbed their own candidate in the back to let this weasel beat the populist Dem candidate. So, voters in "liberal" Conn did the right thing on the Dem side.Impeach Lieberman.

stevio

Lamont's support among Democrats took a big drop after the primary. Republicans voting for Lieberman wasn't the reason he won. Democrats didn't support Lamont in the general election.

Monday, January 29, 2007 08:20 AM

Don't call it "losing"

You might not finish first is all. In that company, there is no shame whereever you wind up in the voting at the "Bloggies."

Monday, January 29, 2007 08:49 AM

perhaps they are going about this all wrong.

Instead of having numerous resolutions expressing varying degrees of discontent with Bush's escalation plan, perhaps a wiser choice would be to take a page out of the Republican playbook and offer a overly simplistic resolution in favor of the escalation and see how many people are willing to vote for it. For example

'We are resolved that a massive troop escalation and open-ended commitment of our troops in Iraq is the most prudent and most effective plan to stabilize the security situation in Iraq and expedite the training of Iraqi security forces, while simultaneously reducing the terrorist threat to American citizens and ensuring improved global security.'

Let all of the remaining rubber stamp Republicans in Congress vote for that and we can hang them with it in '08

Finally Lieberman...

...reveals himself for what he truly is, a turncoat and has always been, a DINO.

And yes I do blame the Ct. voters for swallowing the repub schtick.

As far as Lieberman is concerned I say "good riddance" and thank God, I am glad to be rid of this lying phony he will fit right in with the repug party as they are all lying phonies who care nothing about America, only their repug party.

Poor Hillary

This kind of amuses me. Of course she wants Bush to get the troops out of Iraq before she takes over! She certainly wouldn't want that mess on her hands... Not that I can blame her for that sentiment, but if you're going to run for president you really ought to show some willingness to deal with the disasters left by your predecessor, especially when you know perfectly well that your predecessor is George W. Bush!

Hillary - in a quandry after her enthusiastic support of the war

Hillary was one of the strongest supporters of the war, from the gitgo. Now she is re-writing her own history, pretending that she has "long had doubts" about it (NO: That is untrue). . . . She will deal with criticism of her fabrication the same way she will deal with ALL criticism: (1) If you are a man and criticize her, you are a pig, can't handle women in positions of power, don't like women who are something besides slaves to the whims of men, etc., and (2) If you are a woman and criticize her, you are guilty of self-loathing. WOW; pretty clever, huh ?

Lieberman

When does his true title as undercover ambassador of Isreal appear beside Senator?

Tuesday, January 30, 2007 02:59 PM

Hillary and primary voters

Hillary, has done exactly what she is expected to do, and that, is exactly what she did. However, she still was a strong proponent of this illegally crafted war. Hillary, just like Kerry, didn't really believe in the invasion of Iraq, yet they are accomplices too it. She is just now, readjusting her strategy, now that the base of her activist party, begins to bang the drums - loud and clear. No politician, can hope to win office, if they can't win in the primary. In this case, most of the voters - voting in the upcoming primary, want this war to end, now.

YES! Impeach Lieberman! Stevio, tell me how...

An elected US Senator is honor bound to work hard to listen to the voice of the people and vote as they direct him to. Read Obama's book for an admirable look at just how thrilling, grueling, rewarding, at times boring but always necessary this requirement to listen to the people in order to represent them.

Joe Lieberman's victory speech in November touted that he promises to vote his conscience!

I don't want JOe Lieberman to vote HIS conscience. I want him to represent my voice.

Joe Lieberman defeated Ned Lamont thanks to the republican party's weak candidate; why wouldn't a republican vote for Joe Lieberman? He is one! Many republicans did vote for Lieberman; thus he won. Ned Lamont did not appeal to republicans or "rightists" who think Lamont's message of dissent was leftist.

To say Lamont's defeat was ironic is an understatement. Ned Lamont ran his ads earlier than anyone in the country because of the August election which he won forcing Lieberman to run as an Independent in November.

Lamont's message resonated with me--let's get ourselves out of Iraq; Bush clearly did not invade because of WMD or Al Queda links; yes, we have an obligation to rebuild the Iraq infrastructure that we decimated--but let's get it done and move on with our domestic agenda, pressing problems, health care, the environment, energy, social security...

Stand up People of Connecticut! Let's show the rest of the US how to get rid of a self-absorbed lying liar!

Stevio, how do we go about doing this? A US Senator hasn't ben impeached since the late 1800s. Can we get him "recalled"--HELP!
