When the next president is inaugurated I hope Bush's only participation is as the clown who sweeps up the spotlight at the end of the circus.

The only thing that disgusts me more than what Bush-Cheney have done and the fact that the MSM have let them get away with it is the thought that they will never be held accountable for their crimes and, in fact, will retire to affluence with a cadre of secret service agents provided at our expense. If Bush survives in office until January '09, look for a flurry of pardons (much like 41 pardoned Weinberger, et. al. so to never be held accountable for Iran-Contra). Libby (if he hasn't yet been pardoned), Rove, Wolfy, Rummy, and don't forget Cheney himself. As long as none of the players can be called to task, neither can the master.

Here's a thought: do presidential pardons have any standing in the World Court?

If memory serves me, Clinton's approval numbers didn't grow *despite* the impeachment, but in part **because** of the impeachment. The public reacted to the grossly partisan attempt to profit from Clinton's personal failures in a backlash that sent Newt Gingrich to a bench from which he still has not escaped.

Democrats should heed (and seem to be heeding) this lesson. Even if lying to convince us to enter into a ruinous and corrupt war is materially different than lying about a blowjob, talk of impeachment should remain exactly that. The progressive cause can be served best by making progress, not just attacking the reactionaries. To paraphrase Shakespeare, "Leave Dubya to God."

You said it well, as another poster said you hit the lugnut on the head. But what makes me wonder and scares me is how do we stop the MSM, a part of the corporatocracy that that put Bush in power and has been so successful in keeping him there and actually got him reelected.

How are 'we the people' going to stop them? I don't see anyway.

I do know that Michael Powell and his control of the FCC was a major instrument in keeping Mr. Boosh in power. I do know that the rethug used a carrot and stick to bending the MSM to their wishes. The carrot was/is allowing them to consolidate their hegemony over american media(Clear Channel and Fox, Rupert Murdoch) so that they are total monopolies.

While the stick was punishment, of various kinds, for straying from the Bush rethug message.

But unless the Dems decide to break up these MSM monoplies these media monopolies will never stop of their own accord or because they are destroying America by stopping the pweoples right to know and have the information that we need in order to make the best decisions in the voting booth.

In other wordswhat I am trying to say is that MSM is the same as the rethug party, their profits come first and America comes last if at all in their thinking.

Money is what drives the rethug party and all their supporters more than anything else and patriotism be damned. You and I and almost all of us at Salon have our beloved America as the very first item in our agenda but they have it last or not at all.

This goes for Big Religion as well.

How do we stop them? The voting booth takes way to long, will America or the world survive for another two years and if it does just how much worse off will we be and how much more damage will we sustain, can we sustain, before we implode or explode.

Some how 'we the people' need to 'cook' every rethug and probably a third of the Dems who are really DINO's. I'm not sure how 'we the people' can 'cook' them.

Just two days ago the FBI invaded the home of an 81yr old man in Pa. and 'tossed' his house and grilled him for who knows how long. But this was not covered in the MSM. This is just another intimidation tactic, and at the same time their is no one to stop the FBI or investigate them.

I don't really blame the FBI because they work for Mr. Boosh, not for America not for congress but only for Boosh, the twit from Texas. It is no wonder that the FBI, CIA,NSA and so many others are out of control, Mr. Booosh is out of control as is the entire rethug party.

There just is no congressional control, our 'system of checks and balances' is gone. I, at this point in time don't see any hope that our democracy can or will be repaired. Hopefully the Dems will do it. But the MSM, GREEDY Big Religion and Greedy Big Corporatocracy has all the power.

Even long before the Dems were even sworn in the aforementioned entities were attacking them. The Dems were not even sworn in and my religion, the Catholic Church was attacking them and actually doing it long before the elections took place.

For proof, just look at past episodes of EWTN, starting from last summer and it will be obvious. EWTN, the catholic cable channel run by Mother Angelica, a catholic nun, is still attacking the Dems amd will never stop. They are on orders from the Pope who has been meddling in american politrics since the days of Reagan.

EWTN is just another part of the MSM who are all engaged in forcing all politics and all americans into a "Totalitarian Republican Theocracy" and they seem unstoppable.

Religions are not supposed to be forcing political agendas but they are and as such the Catholics, my religion but not me, should have to report themselves as agents of a foreign power.

These religious groups and all of MSM are creating huge cognitive dissonance. One good example is their misnamed Pro-Life stance. if they were truly Pro-Life they would not be ewndorsing the war or the torture legislation of Bush and Cheney. Just look at the HUGE number of catholics in the rethug party who totally endorse and support Bush in the war on Iraq and the death of our troops and the Iraqis while bin Laden is still out there roaming free and still supported by the Saudi family who own Saudi Arabia and all it's people. Yet Bush is great friends with the Saudi family and they both along with the catholic rethugs do nothing at all.

In fact how many americans know that the Saudi family, the financial supporters of bin Laden, own CITI Group, the financial empire. It is all profoundly amazing.

Exactly what is this HUGE conflation of the rethugs, Bush, the Bush family, the Saudi family, bin Laden, the MSM, the catholic church, the white southern baptist FUNDAMENTALISTS(all catholics are fundamentalists) the Pro-Lifers/Pro-Deathers, and Big Corps.

Sounds like a conspiracy to me, what else would anyone call it. It is all insane and has nothing at all to do with God or Jesus Christ, but are USED by these groups to justify their actions and politics.
