"Thief within the law"

I hadn't heard that term before. The closest I'be heard to that is "Honest graft." That's a very interesting turn of phrase, and it perfectly captures my frustration at a system that lets the rich get away with grand larceny while locking up some poor chump for dealing in food stamps (before they were replaced by EBT cards).

Thanks, FreeProton. Reading these letters occasionally turns up a really interesting gem like that one.

Get a grip, people

He's not going to be sodomized in prison. The joint he's going to will require him to tip the more senior guys caddy.

None of those guys want shit on their dick unless they have a taxpayer bent over. He's real safe.

Who is this God

that war mongering presidents, back stabbing senators, criminal congressmen and money hungry lobbiests ask for advice from and worship? Who is this God that the followers of these nihilist and who support them unflinchingly worship? Is there an alternate Ten Commandments written on the back of those tablets? Differently constructed sand boxes that we were supposed to play nice in built? "Do unto others" rules crafted in a sort of superman-bizzaro flip flop we are unaware of? What kind of Supreme being would lay the kind of advice these bozos seem to be listening to?

Bob Ney is a crook. Probably always has been. The God he worships is obviously different than mine, or at very least, a marginal if not optional resourse in his life. Mine doesn't like crooks and doesn't stray from ethics for any amount of power and money. You know the rest, from Bush down to Delay and Company. I hope those dinners and sportting events were worth it.

Go hug an honest person. It'll do you good. Oh, and don't forget to pay your pew rent...

I love these GOP assholes' knack for taking personal responsiblity

It's not MY fault I'm a crooked, bribe-taking shitheel. It's vodka's fault.

It's not MY fault I'm a perverted, page-preying pedophile. My priest touched me in a naughty way.

They're all about personal responsibility as long as they're talking about someone ELSE taking it, not them. When it comes to taking responsiblity for their own actions all they can do is cry and fingerpoint.

I hope his prison term is rectally painful.

Bob Ney--White Man's Justice

If it were a young black male who got high and did one stupid thing that was completely out of character, he'd be sent to prison for a very long time...but a white career criminal like Ney who knew exactly what he was doing over a long period of time gets sentenced to..."hard tennis"?

A curse on you Bob Ney....

May you learn the prison game "hide the sausage", and may all your showers be golden.

Look on the bright side

This'll give Bob a chance to get off the sauce.

???

Do they serve freedom fries in the federal correctional system, or will he have to suffer the worst indignity of all (besides the sodomy) - french fries?

Friday, January 19, 2007 12:19 PM

"three months longer than prosecutors had recommended"

He deserved at least that much more for his part in changing the House cafeteria's menu to "freedom fries".

Quick quick!

The Russians had a name for such people: thief within the law. The prosecutors need to hurry up and get as many of these criminals to trial before the Bush administration fires them (the prosecutors) and replaces them with loyal cronies. It's a race against time, folks! Will the Long Hand of Justice (tm) reach into the smelly dank recesses of the K-street Project or will the Bush administration flex its Dictatorial Muscle (tm) and help its allies evade their deserved punishment?

Stay tuned as the Great War of (on?) Justice (tm) continues...

Huzzah!

We'll expect to see Bob-O back in DC as a lobbyist in 30 months, ten days?
