The president's tears

Who is Bush really weeping for?

This reminds me of Poppy Bush coming to speak alongside Jeb and weeping at the thought of Jeb losing the bid for Florida governor back in 1994 (not surprising, in that his campaign platform was "Vote for me and I'll sign many more death warrants than Lawton Chiles does!").

It wasn't the loss of a close election that moved Poppy to tears, it was the realization that the smart Bush kid got blindsided, didn't build up plenty of time in office so that he could run for President in 2000, and got overtaken by the prodigal son.

Bush isn't weeping for the guy who frantically threw a helmet on a grenade to save his buddies - he's feeling sorry for himself.
