Everyone's kids will have to deal with this
Yes, our children will end up fighting terrorism, but not for the reasons Joe thinks. Our kids' generation will be forced to deal with the inevitable fallout of the Bush administration's ineptitude. So far, all that the Iraq war has done is run our army into the ground, alienate our allies, embolden our enemies, enrich war profiteers, and give the Bush administration an excuse to seize power and act outside the law.
And it is the Republicans' policies that lost the war, not the Democrats. Particularly their desire to fight the war with light forces and on the cheap, not to mention their utter and complete bungling of Iraq's occupation and reconstruction. Democrats had almost no influence on how the war was conducted. All that Democrats have done is point out the foolishness of this plan (or lack thereof). But rather than face reality and acknowledge that they screwed up, Republicans would rather shoot the messenger.

Sad sad Joe
Joe, so let me get this straight...in your opinion total failure in Irag is a new thing, like it just happened today? The war has been doomed from the beginning and many of us bush haters said so a long time ago...why, cuz he was an idiot then and he's an idiot now. That's hardly our fault.
The war is failing because of BUSH not because a few hundred people wrote angyr emails, or blogposts about him. I mean really....

Re: -- Joe
"The sad thing for me is that my two year old will have to fight this battle when he is an adult because we don't want to take the responsibility now."
The sad thing for is that you HAVE a 2-year old. And that his brain is going to be filled with your simplistic bullshit for the next decade and a half of his life.

A little joe appreciation
If joe hadn't posted his "the anti-war folks lost the war" screed, I wouldn't have been able to read the articulate responses to that line of argument. Thanks FreeProton, MAV, Nancy Ott and others for giving me the rhetorical ammo to counter this silly point, which I'm sure to hear from some of the (still!) pro-Bush blowhards I know.
I just love free speech.

BobbyG beat me to it, Joe...
I also would like to know exactly what the left and so-called Bush-haters have done, or could have done, to affect Bush's Iraq "strategy" in ANY way. What, exactly, was Bush unable to do, at will, after being given a blank check by Congress when they authorized use of force?
Beyond the fact that one would have to be clinically insane to wish failure on our troops (considering that one main measure of failure is the body count), I don't understand what evidence anyone has that those who felt that Iraq was a war of choice, almost doomed to failure, actually WANTED failure.
Is it a wish for failure to yell at someone careening down a mountain road that they'd better slow down, or perhaps should consider an alternate route entirely? Is it a wish for failure to point out that a cliff lies dead ahead, and that it's a LONG drop?
I guess it all depends on how one defines "success" and "failure" -- and certainly, I have never connected with the Bush administration's ever-changing definition of success in Iraq. Nobody *I* know who objected to the war wanted failure, Joe. Don't know who YOU talk to, but I really doubt you could cite many normal people who actually WISHED for that!
So, please, could we put that canard to rest? Just stay with discussions of substance, and stop attempts at character assassination.

Believe it or not, Joe,
my 20 year-old is kind of important to me, and I don't want him killed or maimed either. It would be horrible enough under the most justifiable circumstances, but the idea of something tragic happening to him in a quixotic quest to clean up a mess created by your pal in the White House would be unbearable. And the president and the president alone is responsible for that mess. Having said that, I am fearful about your 2-year-old, because you're correct: Bush's Folly is going to haunt this country for years to come.

Much Watch TV
Damn, I'm sorry I missed seeing the committee hearing. I knew C-SPAN was going to be Must See TV once the Democrats took over. And to think that the Republicans are starting to break away from the Decider, too. Damn.

normally, I ignore joe...but, in this case....
Joe wrote, in entirety:
Well...
the left and the Bush haters are finally getting what they want. Total failure in Iraq.
Bush has to shoulder his share since he screwed up the reconstruction, but the haters have to shoulder it also. If the world had seen support from the left of this effort it would have had a greater chance for success.
But the left has fought against Bush as hard as any insurgents or terrorists. How much solace have our enemies received from this?
The sad thing for me is that my two year old will have to fight this battle when he is an adult because we don't want to take the responsibility now.

*********
Hm. Joe is either a troll, or very stupid, or mentally ill, or he's been watching WAY too much Fox News.
Those are the only explanations that make any sense. Oh, other than, like the rest of the 30-odd percent of the adult population that *still* thinks GW is just fine, Joe simply cannot face how wrong he has been all these years, and so, he's in denial. Understandable, Joe, that you'd be in denial at this point. But don't blame your feelings on us Bush-haters. We had nothing to do with ANY of this. I was against the Iraq war from the start. Because it's only purpose was to win Bush re-election in 2004. It had no other purpose. Saddam had Iraq well-in-hand, and we had HIM well in hand, in 2000.
And if you really believed Bush's rationale for the war, then, now, or ever, I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in. Seriously.
Nope. Your boy Bush is TOTALLY responsible for this entire tragic mess, and your adolescent whining about "Bush-haters" doesn't change that in the least.
I appreciated the other deliberate posts here responding to old Joe; but I think a few of us need to be a little more blunt: before you post here Joe, at least get your damned facts straight. You embarrass yourself.
