  • Say what?

No kidding - he really said that? I've been constitutionally unable to view or listen to gwb for quite some time, but I may have to check that one out, if it's on tape, just to prove to my own eyes that a President of the United States can allow himself to react in such an utterly childish fashion. They are getting (even more) snippy at the WH, aren't they?

  • Must (not) Read List

I assume that when Mr. Bush refers to most Washington reports going unread he is speaking specifically about the August 2001 PDB that he merely glanced at. You know, the one that described how al-Qaeda wanted to crash airplanes in the US.

  • That book-reading contest between Bush & Rove

Last August, US News & World Report printed a stunning story leaked by the White House -- Dubya and Karl Rove were engaged in an "informal" book-reading contest, with Rove trailing by a 60 to 50 count. Conventional wisdom at the time considered this a transparent attempt to elevate the Current Occupant from the perception he's an intellectual 98-pound weakling. Imagine that.

Brian Lamb of C-Span got Dubya to admit in early 2005 that he reads maybe 20 or 30 pages on a typical night before going to bed. Guess he's taken one of those Evelyn Wood speedreading courses if he can wade through the ISG report so quickly -- although at 84 pages in length, he COULD have polished it off in 3 to 4 nights.

Maybe after both Dubya and Karl read through the entire ISG report, they could prepare a 3 to 5 page synopsis (single spaced) of their findings. No ghost-writers allowed, but it will be an "open book" test. Wouldn't THAT be interesting?

  • Geez, What Do Ya Know

The Iraq Report is as important as MY PET GOAT.

  • Just Think

" Sir another jet just hit the trade center"........And George sat there with that stupid look for another 7 minutes.

Then he was brisked off and him and the advisors came up with this occupation of Iraq. Unreal.

  • See?!

"Geez, What Do Ya Know The Iraq Report is as important as MY PET GOAT."

See? Iraq and 9/11 ARE connected!

  • "It's bad in Iraq. That help?"

Oh yes, Mr. Resident. It helps a lot. It shows us what kind of a person you are.

Now take the logical next step: "Why is is bad in Iraq?" Could it possibly be your fault? You wanted this unnecessary war. You had no plan except "Shock and Awe" and after that it would be flowers for all the soldiers.

"It's bad in Iraq." Do you have any idea what that means for the soldiers and their families, and for all the Iraqis?

You are one glib and snotty SOB. But of course, we already knew that in 2000.

  • How do you define help?

    Dear George:

NO, IT DOESN'T HELP, you self-important, under-achieving, arrogant, smarmy, smart-ass son-of-a-bitch!!! (and I mean that last part literally.)

My son is in Iraq. His wife will give birth to their first child in two weeks without him. This is our family's third deployment. My friend's sons are in Iraq. Their friend's sons are in Iraq. Some of them have died. What does it take to make this miserable excuse for a human being to realize that he has created a catastrophe which has made him the executioner-in-chief of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's and nearly three thousand men and women who have been marched off, not to fight for "freedom", but to fight Bush's botched war of hubris, vanity, and "percieved" opportunity to reinvent himself as the leader he never was.

That he is so unwilling to shoulder any responsibility for this is outrageous enough. That he thinks it's a joke is unbelievable. That the "leader" of the free world refuses to engage in serious and intelligent dialogue about this situation is beyond sad.

And the idea that "he" will mull over reports from any number of sources at his leisure before he finds one that toadies to his egomaniacal views is folly. People are dying today. His time for "mulling" over options is long since over.

Maybe he's just waiting for the white paper on Iraq from God to arrive.

For all the men and women whose lives he has so foolishly and dispassionately taken...I'll say it once more. No, you lousy excuse for a human being...your public disdain for the cost of your war DOESN'T HELP. You bastard.

  • OMG!

On the list of Awesome Things Said By Real Presidents, "It's bad in Iraq. That help?" just cracked the Top Ten.

  • Whoa.

Nita Martin: "No, you lousy excuse for a human being...your public disdain for the cost of your war DOESN'T HELP. You bastard."

    Whoa.

I think Nita Martin gets a round of applause.

  • Tim, you left something out!

Tim, you left out Bush's shocked silence at the question and then his nervous Beavis and Butthead chuckle afterwards. Both of which were totally inappropriate, and more mortifying proof that this man is not up to the job his family bought for him.

  • I found myself wondering if Bush believes there some "other" trifecta waiting for him .... double or nothing?

    I din't really think he thinks <<< G O D >>> believes in HIM.

His lack of empathy is stunning -- particularly for our armed forces and their families in this ** HOLIDAY ** season -- or even empathy for all the Republican CANDIDATES who LOST in November on HIS VERY OWN coat tails or even for all those folks who voted for "him" in 2000, 2002 and 2004, but had a "change of heart" in 2006... those folks who actually are "disillusioned", present company excepted ... All of the citizens whose cognitive dissonance must be compounded daily -- wondering "who is this guy?" "How did we end up here?"

He (and Tony Snow) seems to still be playing the John Wayne mas macho, baddest mo'fo pissing contest game ... and it's not playing well in Peoria ...

I have no idea what "cavalry" he thinks is going to come to his rescue ... or where that massive "silent majority" groundswell of support is hiding ... Yo, that first trifecta was a shitload of bad "luck" too.

He has painted himself into a corner wrt Iran, Korea, "terrorists" like Hamas, Hizbollah -- having declared won't negotiate with them, he appears to be trying to "tough it out" ... such self-centered vanity, so doomed, so wasteful, so tiresome ... like waiting for any stubborn someone to "turn blue"
