Newtonian politics

Wow. Newt's coming out swinging for '08. He uses the fear mongering card right off the bat along with dismantling the US Constitution. He is truly a neocon.

Le plus ca change ,le plus ce reste meme

Right wing repugnican will always be right wing. Gingrich wants a muzzle law, so much for freedom of speech. Tancredo wants to clean up Miami, all he has to do is wait for global warming to do it, and Dole wants money to clean up her senatorial debt, might as well start with the trillions that Bush blew. Not so long ago a trillion was just a number, not an amount of Dollars. So much for progress. However, they all sing loudly God Bless America, do they really know what it means?

Miami is a Third World Country

I live in Miami and couldn't have said it better myself. Nobody speaks English unless they have to, it is one of the poorest cities in the U.S., and to top it off, my voter's registration and all of the ballots are in three languages!

Our wages are the lowest in the state. We even have a voodoo squad to clean up the animal sacrifices from the courthouse steps. It is definitely a third world country.

That's not the half of it

Newt went on to say how web sites which might lead to recruiting terrorists must be shut down. Thus ensuring an easy way discover and catch potential terrorists (along the same lines it is easy to get mispelled spam about penis growth devices, through tracking someone's internet use) will be closed forcing potential terrorists to recruit in a way much harder to detect. He also said this type of censor ship must be broadly interpreted lest any criticism of the government lead to potential recruiting sites for terrorists. Newt's America: All Mein Fuhrer all the time.

He also closed with a call to get rid of the McCain-Feingold finance reform bill, freeing large doners to once again control elections. Seems relying on popular support is too undemocratic. Fact is, how else would Newt have a chance but for the billions of dollars in financing from evil oligarchs and the likes of Spectre and Kaos.

People. Lets quit "Nixonizing" ourselves into thinking that because he was humiliated and cashiered out of office he is now cute and huggable, or even, gasp, an elder statesman.

He is evil. He was always evil. He is responsible for introducing the type of self centered eat the poor, loot the treasury, knight the rich evilness that Tom Delay wet himself aspiring to. He's evil.

About the dole comment

So I'm curious. Will they be allowed to take in new money and spend it on 2008 elections and just let this float...or go away? Or do they have to settle these debts first.

The idea that they went into debt to fund a losing battle (close only counts in horseshoes and all that) does tickle me though. The pockets, while deep, seem not to be infinitely so.

Huh?

"Le plus ca change ,le plus ce reste meme"

This is 'murka. We don't speak no furrin languages! If you want to speak Spanish, go to a third-world country like Miami!

You mean lose ANOTHER city, Newt?

Because I think we pretty much lost one already: New Orleans. And judging from the stunning failure of initiative (to echo the congressional report), why would Americans trust a Republican administration to respond to another loss of a city any better now? New Orleanians now know they're on their own--the rest of the country may well learn that soon enough, if your prediction is correct.

Three Prongs

1. Gingrich is cuckoo! Laugh at him. You know how we always say that G.W. Bush and Cheney would be hilarious if they were not so deadly? Well... Gingrich has no power, and he is a full-fledged Clownbird. Laugh at him. Don't worry.

2. Every 21st-century American city is the 3rd World, even Grand Rapids. Where the heck is Tancredo from? Where has he been? How old is he? How stupid is he?

3. Who gives a rolling donut about Liddy Dole? Did you even realize she still is in the Senate?

focus-group tested?

you know, if this stuff was focus-group tested in some way, I cringe at the composition of the focus group.

If it wasn't, then, I say, I hope the GOP keeps right on saying dumb shit like this, because they will be left in the dust..or, one can but hope.

If there is another major terrorist attack on American soil, I have to confess, I do cringe at what it will do to whatever is left of our democratic republic. The Hitlers and Stalins of the world come to power on the backs of such attacks.

Ya Know ...

I'll bet every time Gingrich opens his mouth somebody, somewhere goes over the edge and joins a terrorist organization (defined by Newt and his cronies as any political organization that uses a donkey as its symbol). So, as I'm willing to be accommodating, I suggest legislation be passed banning Gingrich from flapping his lips, except to ask somebody to pass the salt.

The truly scary thing is that if Gingrich is willing to say this in public, you know it's more than just a trial balloon. He is nothing, if not an astute politician. OK, so he had to fall on his sword back in '98, but I imagine he learned from it.

He's pretty mainstream Republican, so what are they planning for after their '08 comeback that they aren't willing to speak so openly about? I'm not usually one to be paranoid, but having tasted power, just how far are these guys willing to go to hang on to what they've got left and to get the rest back? I won't hold my breath waiting for other leading lights of the GOP, or their mouthpieces at FOX to set Gingrich straight.

Earth to Newt: We already lost a city.

It's called New Orleans.

Truth IS Stranger Than Fiction

No BS, I just read that Gingrich made his comments

"at the annual Nackey S. Loeb First Amendment award dinner, which fetes people and organizations that stand up for freedom of speech."

The late Nackey and her equally defunct hubby used to own the Manchester Union Leader. For those of you who aren't familiar, they made William Buckley look like a screamin' socialist by comparison.

Who says irony is dead? You can't make this sort of stuff up!
