McCain: I was against Roe before I was for it before I was against it

As the senator courts the right, he says that the Supreme Court could and should reverse Roe v. Wade.

Please...

I just wish all these men who have all the answers would stay out of my uterus. Truly, it belongs only to me.

People can change their minds

I have always been very impressed with politicians who are able to change their minds about things - and are able to publicly admit it and explain why. This latter part of the scenario is why the "waffler" label never quite stuck to Clinton. Most people didn't care if he had changed positions, because he was good at explaining why. I am curious how McCain would respond when confronted with the question of why he is suddenly an abortion "federalist" again.

And if he thought he had any chance of winning the hearts of centrists, he blew it. Now if Hilary would just blow it too, we could actually have an interesting presidential race two years from now.

Smart answer

Cloaking it in a "federalist' approach lets McCain have his cake and eat it too. Abortion would stay legal and accessible in 'liberal' or blue states along with a host of other issues such as gay marriage and red sates could re-establish slavery, deny non whites or women the right to vote, etc.

I'm sorry but such an approach if taken seriously only threatens to Balkanize our already fractured and divided country.

Flip-flop

A great tradition in the GOP (Great odorous Party), so why would anyone expect McCain be different. A womans body should be her own.I once respected the Senator for his sufferings in Vietnam but it got to the point that I suffer listening to the sound of his flip-flops.

Senator Sell Out

He sold his soul to the Bushes. Victim of torture himself, he backed down from the few principles he has and voted on a bill allowing torture and the demise of habeus corpus. His Finance Reform bill did nothing to curb the cost of elections. He is NOT a man of the people as he would have everyone believe.

McCain's old campaign bus needs a new name

It used to be the "Straight Talk Express" now it's the "Flip-Flop Express."

So McCain wants to defer the political hot potatoes to the states

talk about "duck and run". This way he can conveniently choose to not take a stand against the religious right. I wonder if he is as much of a federalist when it comes to drug laws and drug inforcement.
