    "many of these threatened religious voters, while somewhat conservative...They could, with a bit of hand holding, be Democratic voters."

    Sorry, but these folks will vote for who the preacher tells them to. They don't think independently or rationally, that is not how those churches work. Thoughtful, insightful christians usually do not belong to these churches.
