Explains a lot.
So you're either with us or a lesbian?
I read his quote 3 times and am still not sure I fully comprehend what he is saying, or maybe it's just not something I'd expect a sentient being to say.
-
Exes of his perhaps
He might be reflecting on the afterlife of former lovers who felt an obviously compelling need to find a viable alternative.
-
The Mark of stupid
Or perhaps the women just dated someone like you, Mark.
-
It probably never have occurred to him...
It probably never occurred to him that many lesbians probably have had unsatisfactory relationships with men *because they're lesbians*.
If you don't think homosexuality exists as a sexual orientation, I can see it being easy to get that cause and effect backwards.

Mark Steyn
And this guy gets paid to write?
-
A problem that comes across fairly clearly
is this guy's cultural isolation. He's making pronouncements about people and groups of people whom he clearly knows very little about and with whom he clearly has very little contact. My late mother-in-law, a Korean woman born 1913 who fought to get a college education in a family with three boys, used to proclaim almost as her mantra that "Ignorance is the most frightening thing."

We finally found the WMD!
WMD: Women Muslim Deviants
-
Steyn's only fooling himself
if he thinks george Bush actually reads anyhting but Shakespears.
-
Other theories?
Does Steyn have any comparable theories for why he's such a parochial, ignorant dork?
-
So, if men just tried a little harder...
there wouldn't be as many lesbians or Muslims?
In some weird, ignorant way, Mr Steyn has made a feminist argument about the causes of lesbianism and Muslim-ness. Who would have thought that Mr Steyn could be such a man-hater?
