An elective war, then some elective surgery?

A "prominent Republican" tells Bob Novak that Bush would have done the Republicans a favor if he had disappeared around Labor Day.

Maybe a good idea ...

Is there a surgical procedure for recto-cranial insertion?

Rove Wouldn't Hear of Such a Thing

The egos of Bush, Cheney, and Rove would never stand on the sideline. They think they're always right, no matter the situation. And we all know what happens when you disagree with them? See O'Neill, Powell, Clarke ....

Oh, no -- this would NOT be "elective surgery"

That's FAR too kind -- this is much more akin to John Dean's "cancer on the Presidency" represented by the crimes of Nixon and his inner circle.

The cancer on our country needs to be excised -- the boil lanced -- the offending eye plucked out. Choose your metaphor -- you could even stick with the good old reliable "throw the bums out"!

Our government is sick, and our country's democratic republic hangs in the balance. It can't be described in any starker or more appropriate terms.

Elective surgery

When I approached the voting location this morning, the usual Democratic and Republican committee people were out front. One said, "You've got electronic machines this year."

"Really," I said. "Then I know my vote won't count....Guess you can tell who I'm voting for..." They looked momentarily stunned, but the Democratic committeeman got it.

Also, the regulars at my voting place said they'd already seen more turnout at that time than in several previous elections--and it was only 7:20 a.m.
