  • What About Lamont?

Is he even campaigning? I have read nothing about him since the primary.

  • Good for Carter

Carter's comments were concise and eloquent. Should be required memorization for all Dems.

  • Great ex-President, or greatest ex-President?

Jimmy Carter, in his post-presidential years, has become the gold standard for ethical actions regarding public service for both Democrats and Republicans. What he was unable to achieve (or was unappreciated for) during his term as President has been eclipsed by his concise and on-point arguments in the current political climate.

I hope that President Carter has many more years in which he can continue to support the American people with his words and actions.

  • Lieberman is a Sorry Loser

Lieberman is pathetic. He was defeated in Democratically - held elections. The Democratic voters told him to take a hike.

He responded by telling them that he is the only one who knows how to defend CT voters hence he had to run as an independent. In other words, he patronized CT voters and insulted their intelligence. Joe Lieberman is the perfect example of power-gone-mad.

  • Jolted Joe's Blind Spot

Assertion: Lieberman backed the war as long as he did because he sympathizes so strongly with Israel. Why else would such a seasoned politician make himself so vulnerable?

The question in the next Presidential is: who will find a "centrist" position on Israel? Someplace between the Rove doctrine linking their right wing fundamentalists with American fundamentalists--and those Americans, Jewish and Non-Jewish, who are fed up with Israeli atrocities.

Why not start asking some of the candidates questions to this effect--after the Nov. election when the battle for the Presidency begins. Did they agree with Bush in returning Lebanon to the stone age as a result of Hezbollah's baiting Israel to do so? Isn't it time the U.S. distance itself from Israel's right wing?

I think a lot of voters are interested in the issue, and the Democrats need opportunites.

    Ben Sen

  • Why quote Tammy Sun?

Tim, this is a column. You don't have to find the Lieberman spokesman and get a quote. She is a total hack n' flack. Who the heck cares what she and Joe think? They don't care what Connecticut Democrats think, so why should you print their self-serving garbage?

  • Lieberman and other Public Servants

Don't our senators and congressional representatives read? Or do they rely only on what appears in Associated Press Releases? Ir's too bad that Lieberman is unaware that the so-called recent plot in Great Britain was credible - which proves the man shouldn't hold public office. It's kind of like when Bush offhandedly told the nation that Congress had the same intelligence reports he did when Congress gave him the power to attack Iraq! What a croc!
