Correction

I just wanted to quickly note that the primary winner for Minnesota's Fifth district is named Keith Ellison, not Steve Ellison (which was how his name was listed in this morning's War Room paragraph).

Thanks.

Another correction

It's Randy Graf, not Graff.

In that other election...

I know it isn't like Washington, D.C. is a bastion of democracy, or that the rest of the country cares about the leadership of the only city/state in the nation that gets to pay federal taxes but doens't get a voice (or at least a vote) in congress. But, for the record, Adrian Fenty won the democratic primary meaning that he is virtually guaranteed to win the mayor's seat in November.

To the best of my knowledge, Mr. Fenty does not smoke crack, so you can leave your jokes about the former mayor at home, people.

Fair and accurate elections?

Was there really a mistake in Maryland or had the electronic machine already been casting votes on it's own? Were they Diebold machines by any chance? Makes you wonder.....

Randy Graf's win is a warning to Democrats

I hate to say I told you so, but more than a year ago here on Salon and MMFA, I told my Democrat compadres that they were on the wrong side of this illegal alien issue.

Of course, I was called a racist.

That's all they got when their short on solutions.

I pointed out that Cesar Chavez, a man who challenged the corporate growers of California in the 1960s, was opposed to illegal aliens coming in from Mexico and scabbing for the corporatists.

Of course, I was called a liar.

That was up until the they started reading about "La Huelga" and found out I was telling the truth.

I'm a "Labor Democrat." I believe in the American working class. There are social liberal Democrats who think "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is mine too."

That just won't cut it today as we slide into a national recession that may last until a year after Bush is gone.

This November, the DNC and Democratic candidates on the bubble better understand that there is a deep resentment against cheap scab labor undermining what is already a hostile environment for the wage earners in this country.

If you want a big win for Republicans in November, just keep on calling people racists and liars and you'll never get Congress back.

Dang it!

In my haste, I keep using different forms of There, Their and The're. Make this a blanket "oops" for now and future mistakes.

You missed the biggest election news.

In your election roundup you neglected to mention the fact that in the New Hampshire First Congressional Race, ,Carol Shea Porter pulled off a stunning upset against the DCCC annointed and funded Jim Craig. Porter was outspent 10 to 1 by Craig and won by 20 points. Given the debate about New Hampshire's role in the primary, I think this upset says alot about the voters in New Hampshire. Porter won because she was able to energize voters. She won with a huge grassroots campaign, and because she had good messages which she took to voters in their towns, their living rooms and on email. Isn't that what democracy is all about?
