reuters...

reuters posting a photoshopped image?! NEVER!

Sorry.. I'm actually amused by this post and got a chuckle out of the hypocrisy, but the "That means Reuters posted a photoshopped image" comment as a defense was somewhat ironic.

To those who think this was photoshopped

If you click on the link, it takes you to a Reuters article. That means Reuters would have been running a photoshopped image. It's not like Tim got this from some mass email and didn't vet or check the info. Stranger things have happened, but if this image was fake, we'd have heard about it by now. Keep that in mind....

This should be a non-issue...

I think most of whatever blame there be for this actually rests with the idiot who put the flag on a doormat. I'm no fan of Shrub Corp., and no doubt he could have paid more attention to where he put his feet, but if the flag weren't on the ground to begin with, this lovely photo op wouldn't have been possible. Bush has way more to answer for than something as trivial as this. Focus, people.

The Point, Tom

You essentially refute your own arguement.

"Are you thinking the ignorant red necks are going to vote for democrats? There are quite a few people that voted for Bush who don't fit this category. When the people they listen to want to distract them from REAL issues, they use stupid examples like this photo..."

I'll give you another stupid example they use: FLAG DESECRATION! This photo proves the point that a stupid example (flag desecration) Republicans used to gain votes is merely a stupid example to get votes; because Bush couldn't really care less about flag desecration. See picture.

But then again, I'm a simpleton that could even be labled as uneducated. When appealing to the middle and potential Republican converts, we need to appeal to a vast intellect which I am sure 85% of this group represents.

Yes, the public is turning. Perhaps come November we Democrats will be a few seats closer to a majority. We wouldn't want to actaully gain the majority and remove the anxiety for the 2008 election cycle. Until then, we can all pretend we live in that world where "facts are being reported honestly."

The only reason Republicans read this website is to recall how easy it is to mind fuck the public when your opponent's best political ploy is to be fair and honest. Right Joe?

The Point, Dan

Are you thinking the ignorant red necks are going to vote for democrats? There are quite a few people that voted for Bush who don't fit this category. When the people they listen to want to distract them from REAL issues, they use stupid examples like this photo to show the liberal bias of the media. Then when Salon reports something factual and troubling, the right wing will point to this and say, "can you trust anything they say."

I do expect more from the media. The public is turning as the facts are being reported honestly, why fuck up a good thing. The far right is being found out, just as the far left would be if they employed the same tactics. The truth is usually in the middle, where most people(voters) reside. Play to that base.

You All Miss the Point

The point isn't that Georgie is stepping on the flag. The point is that Georgis panders to ignorant faux patriots while pick-pocketing them.

Burning a flag is desecration but making a floor mat out of one is okay. Do you know why? Because it's easier to get the ignorant red neck's attention when flames are involved. It's not about respect for the flag (if it were you wouldn't condone making a mat out of it let alone walk on it), it's about fooling cowards into voting for you so you can take their money and give it to your friends.

Tim IS keeping his eye on the ball. Quit trying to be good honest fair little liberals and do the same. Otherwise be prepared to take your almost certain beating in November.

two sides to this coin...

First of all, it's a door mat, not an actual flag Second of all, because a doormat has an American flag on it (why?) it begs to ask, "do you use it as a doormat or do you question the jack-ass who created it?"

This does have photoshop written all over it, but the sad thing is that GWB is so damned stupid that he definitely would do something inappropriate like this.

To the joe bashers

Whether you like his previous posts or not(not counting the fake joes, easy to tell), this photo is a stupid cheap shot. Once again, Bush does enough stupid/offensive things that a news organization doesn't need to make shit up!

Jack-booted thug

Wow.

You couldn't ask for a better metaphor.

Monday, September 11, 2006 03:05 PM

I'm lower case joe

I'm the REAL joe, because I type it lower case.

Monday, September 11, 2006 03:00 PM

Hey! Quit posting as Joe!

I'm the REAL JOE!

Monday, September 11, 2006 02:58 PM

You can all be Joe. It's easy

Just get yourself a throw-away email address and then sign your posts "Joe." There must be at least four or five "Joes" posting on Salon.

DMBfan34

Aw, you got me!

Signed Tim. Ooops, I meant Joe.

Give Bush a break here

He had just stepped in some deep dog doo-doo, and had to clean his shoe the only way he knew how.

Monday, September 11, 2006 01:32 PM

Hope it's photoshop

That's kind of a bizarre floormat for someone to make anyway. I'm hoping this is photoshop Just because it wouldn't surprise you, doesn't mean its true. (seems fair though: like the Kerry on stage with Fonda thing).

DMB: You're right. I've been responding to Joe as if pointing out how inane his automatic defense of the administration was would actually make a difference. It never pays to feed the trolls. I'll just let him ramble to himself from here on out.

Monday, September 11, 2006 01:31 PM

DMB

I post here because I can. When I see an article as dumb as this one I don't think it requires more than the response I gave.

And why would you need to know background on me? Why should I have to be registered and tagged to voice an opinion? If you want to lock out an opposing viewpoint go right ahead.

I imagine you don't think my other posts are worthy of your high standards simply because I won't bend down and trash the administration or the country as much as you want me to.

I wear my non-star proudly.
