Wedding Bells

At least Ken would be able to get married.

Mehlman

says that likes it's a bad thing!

Thursday, September 7, 2006 01:16 PM

You don't understand...

... Melman can say this because the Republicans have shown how easy it is to gum up the works of an Administration...

Sounds good to me.

If by "cutting and running in the War on Terror" they mean "getting out of an endless, unnecessary war", then I'm all for what they predict.

Impeachment? Repealing tax cuts for the rich? Speaker Pelosi? Sounds GREAT to me.

Projection...

It ain't just for movie theaters anymore.

Oh, come on

Miers pulled out. She never asked for a hearing. Had she forced the issue, she would have gotten one. She would probably have lost the vote, which is why she decided not to push it that far. This is totally different from someone who has actively pushed for a hearing and been denied one, or gotten a hearing and then been filibustered, as happened to a number of Bush nominees.

The RNC's right: if the Democrats take the Senate, it _will_ be harder for Bush nominees to the bench to get confirmed - would you have it any other way?

Filibuster

Justaguy - had a hearing and then been filibustered? Name one...

Hey, Joe?

I'm waiting for Joe to chime in that Mehlman, is just being manly, and is powerfully thrusting his...er...vision of what could be deep into our, uh, conciousness. We are just too stupid and liberal (means the same thing) to see the wry irony and wit. No longer content to beat up the poor straw man, the republicans have now have created a "straw media" to crush. "I know that some future newspapers will hate america and want to see us defeated...."

Agree with Republicans!

I like what Ken suggests. If the Democratics party takes control of the Senate, they should behave just like Republicans. I would like to see almost all of Bush's judicial nominees blue slipped, just like the GOP used to do to Clinton's. Don't approve a single damn judicial nominee until 2009. Sadly, I doubt that would happen. We still have too many Liebermans around.

And a bit further into the future...

"Budget Balanced. America respected abroad. Civil liberties protected. Children educated. Church and State separated. That's what America could look like four year from now if Democrats take the majority."

Mehlman...

...is such a lying sack of shit.

Although, in at least one area, he's not lying at all. I know I'd be demanding investigation and impeachment of both the current-occupant and his VP sidekick if the Dems take the Congress in November.

The Republicans keep mentioning impeachment if the Dems take over. I find that really entertaining. What's good for the goose is good for the gander guys. You impeached Clinton for lying about a blowjob. We want to impeach Bush for lying about a war... and for lying about a few other things too. Seems reasonable to me. You guys impeached Clinton solely because you didn't like him, he made you crazy. And because you could..and because it helped the current-occupant get just close enough in 2000 for his Dad's buds on the Supreme Court to hand him the White House.

We want to impeach Bush because he has committed crimes against the country, serious crimes that endanger not only our democracy, but the entire civilized world.

My guess is that you're worried because you know there's a very good chance Bush could be impeached. I think you know he committed impeachable crimes, and you know he can't be defended easily. There are too many witnesses. Too much paper. If an impeachment ever went forward, it would probably be successful.

Although, in the end, if we do impeach him--and I hope to god he's impeached, tried, convicted and thrown in prison--can he be thrown in prison if convicted??--it'll probably just rally your ugly-american base again, and you'll be back in the White House in 2008...and THAT is the very reason we'd probably never impeach him.

who could have guessed that all the fun we had in the 60s would piss off the geeks so much that they plotted this grotesque revenge for 30 years...and pulled it off? It is so sad. And enraging.
