The question to ask Sen. Lieberman
Far more important than the admission policy at Ned Lamont's country club is the question of where Lieberman's voice was when the Republican Party was playing games with extending the Voting Rights Act. It did end up passing but if Joe is so concerned about issues of race, why wasn't he out in front calling for all of his Republican friends to pass this immediately.
A worthwhile question to a candidate who touts his bipartisanship.

What does "predominantly white membership" mean? CT is predominantly white
as is America.
I work in an office that has a "predominantly white membership". Am I a racist?
Should Lamont have joined a club with a "predominantly black membership"?
Does Joe belong to a club with a " predominantly white membership"?
-
Quick, somebody tell Barack Obama...
Somebody ought to tell Barack Obama, the mixed-race, "Lieberman Lite" Senator, that his official Senate mentor is now engaged in race-baiting, in addition to his right-wing Republican position on the war and public Bush ass-kissing par excellence...
I can't wait until next week when Joe Lieberman falls on his ass and Democrats can stand up and cheer...
-
This sounds familiar
I wonder if Karl Rove came up with this one. Seems strangely similar to something the GOP would come up with.
-
If Liebermouth has AFL-CIO backing ...
Then why is there no union bug from the printing shop on the flyer? So those "in-house" printers are taking work away from union members, eh?
-
It DOES sound like Rove....
I couldn't put my finger on what bothered me about this at first.
But hah! Anonymous may be on to something. It is Rove-ian, and the beauty part is that that is why it won't work...You can't pull that crap on Democrats...some of them still have intact networks of brain cells.
-
He "didn't pay much attention to race."
Isn't that pretty much the de facto definition of someone who is not a racist?
And don't most country clubs reflect the demographics of their neighborhood?
-
For years, he didn't pay as much attention to race ...
Isn't not paying attention to race the ideal? Are we not supposed to be a race blind society? Lieberman's campaign is off the mark with this one.

Not Slimy
I pretty much despise Joe Lieberman. However, I think that your description of the flyer is over the top. It's not "race-baiting" as much as it says Joe is on the side of the African-American community. Due to his opposition to affirmaitve action, I may disagree, but he still has a right to say it.

Lieberman is really concerned about civil rights
So concerned that he voted to end debate on the bankruptcy-gutting bill and on Alito's nomination. He's a true hero to black people everywhere.
-
pot calling the kettle black
what's ironic about Lieberman's accusation is that HIS record on civil rights is also suspect. When he was picked as Gore's VP candidate, lieberman's civil rights record was of concerns to african americans (so much so that it was a frequent topic of debate on black radio).

Connecticut Primary Draws Fence-Sitters
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/01/nyregion/01lieberman.html?ref=nyregion
The NYTimes reported today that 6,715 unaffiliated voters have registered as Democrats to vote in the primary. Both parties (Lamont and Lieberman) claim that it is good news.
I'm registered purely as a democrat so that I can vote in the primaries although I don't consider myself to be a democrat but an independent. Registering this way allows me a better chance, albeit slim, to see my preference make it to the general election.
My suspicion is that many of these, not all but many are similarly like-minded and this could be the watershed moment for Joe Lieberman, it might just be the end of the line.
It would be ironic that unaffiliated independents register as Democrats to see Joe off only to have him run as an independent.
I hope the people of CT. make Joe truly independent and unemployed to boot.

Does Joe belong to a club with a " predominantly white membership"?
To answer Jim's question, "Does Joe belong to a club with a 'predominantly white membership'?" The answer is yes, he dows. It's called the U.S. Senate.
In all seriousness, according to the 2004 U.S. Census survey, Connecticut's black population is 10.1% of the whole, and the U.S. has 12.8% of its population made up of people they identify as black. For other mind numbingly boring statistics about a state most of us don't live in, but whose Senate race has become a national focus to the exclusion of other stories, you can go to http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/09000.html.

Lieberman's a whiner ....
Always a victim, Joe Lieberman, remains the same whiner he came across as when he was running a VP with Gore. Wasn't awe inspiring then and he is the same old whiney voiced Joe today.

Sounds fair to me
Sorry, Tim, but if Ned Lamont was in an all-white anything, I think that's relevant. You and I would have both thought it was relevant to, say, Sam Alito. The flyer is harsh, but totally fair. I hope Lamont's mistake (if it was one) gets broader coverage.
Not that it really matters -- Lieberman will win anyway. But the scare he's gotten may do some good.
