DeLay PAC fined, forced to close

The FEC says that the political action committee has admitted campaign finance violations.

It's not enough.

If a group uses illegal means to succeed in accomplishing it's goals then a fine after the fact isn't a particularly effective deterrent. If this PAC is closed then another one can just be started under a different name.

It's like a local candidate a few years ago who received illegal loans right before the election that allowed her buy a last minute media blitz. The truth eventually came out but the beneficiary of the illegal loan was still in office. My district still lost a good representative.

Blatent fraud needs more punative consequences including the possibility of impeachment or not being able to run again. Of course if we do this I'm sure the Republicans will rail against it and then abuse the hell out of the process like they did with the Independent Council.

Pest Control

Delay's profession (pestcontrol)could in the end not control the political pest he created. The fine is more symbolic than realistic. The damage created by Delay and his cohorts will take generations to pay off. Now go after the others and help REcreate honesty, almost an oxymoron in politics.
