First time for everything

Karen Hughes once said she'd never heard George W. Bush utter a profanity.

The letters thread is now closed.

obscenity

Widdle Georgie's very presence is an obscenity. Of course, he's just a potty mouthed frat boy playing Preznit with complete disregard for the death that he's causing every single living day of his fetid reign. Speaking of obscenity, fuck him with large dull dildo.

Well, I for one am just gobsmacked -

I'm shocked, shocked to find that that somebody who is a part of this Administration would lie to a member of the press. Heavens me! What is this world coming to?

Next thing you know, we'll be hearing that they lied about the reasons we went to war in Iraq. Or worse yet, that George W. Bush didn't write his own campaign autobiography for the 2000 election.

Holy fucking shit!

Karen Hughes never heard Dubya utter a profanity? Call the Army Fucking Corps of Engineers -- that bitch needs her goddamn hearing aid reamed out. I mean, fucking A.

Now that you mention it Tim...

...wasn't Ms. Hughes dispatched to the Middle East to get the folks appreciative of the American Christian culture and heal the wounds?

Profanity?

In a world where oral sex is not "missionary-position-sexual-intercourse," it is relatively precise to say that "asshole" and "shit" are not profane. After all, voiding fecal material from the colon via the anus is a God given imperative. Ergo, the language, far from being profane, is holy.

Goodness, Tim.

I wonder what color the sky is there...

Karen Hughes has inhabited a world of her own fantasy for most of her own adult life, as far as I can tell. I doubt this is a lie; I'm sure Karen truly and completely believes that George can do no wrong and has crafted whatever psychoses are necessary to make that belief possible.

Wasn't Karen Hughes

the object of Bush's (in)famous "one finger salute" video shot right before a debate while running for Governor of Texas?

Don't reward bad behaviour

What I really resent is the mileage the associated Rovians will get from leaking the verbal spasms of that stuffed flightsuit poseur. Just in case anyone thought he was getting flacid with all this wussy speecifying about diplomacy and such.

Butter that bread ... smack smack with open gross mouth ... cussy cussy, and war drums drumming in the background.

Tucker Carlson?

You quote Tucker Carlson on a topic that might color a Republican president unflattering? Please. What do you think he'd say? The very "fair and balanced" Tucker Carlson?

Did he (Tucker) miss that video clip from the 2000 campaign? The one in which Bush and Chenney were caught with an open microphone describing a NY times reporter as a "major a..hole."

The thing about Karen Hughes

Is that she doesn't use the same set of swearwords that the rest of the English speaking world does. So, she just doesn't recognize Bush's vulgarities. It's sort of like getting chewed out in a language you don't understand. You might get a bit of intent, but you couldn't pick out a specific swear word being used.

Who cares?

Geez, you guys must have some time on your hands...

Profanity?

Attacking a nation without cause is profane. Violating the fundamental laws of our nation is profane. Ignoring global warming is profane. Opposing stem cell reserach is profane. Giving tax breaks to the rich is profane. Failing to develop an effective policy for energy, healthcare, the environment, education, and national securty is profane. Saying words like shit and fuck, those good Anglo-Saxon words thought crude by the Fench somehow just isn't in the same league.

Shrug

Somehow as a card carrying Bush hater I can't get work up about his use of the word shit. I am much more concerned with the fact that he doesn't seem to know the names of the major players in the middle east.

Following Up

A reader asks why I'd quote Tucker Carlson on this. It's a good question, but it's one that wouldn't have been necessary if I had made it clear from the beginning -- as I should have -- that Carlson didn't believe Hughes for a minute. Carlson called Hughes' claim "insane." "I've obviously been lied to a lot by campaign operatives, but the striking thing about the way she lied was she knew I knew she was lying, and she did it anyway," he said in the 2003 interview. "There is no word in English that captures that. It almost crosses over from bravado into mental illness."

Finally

Now this is news! I'm really sick of hearing about this unimportant stuff like Iraq, North Korea, Stem Cell research, the price of oil, the state of public education, prisoner abuse, federal grants to religious organizations, system-wide corruption in the federal government, and, oh yeah, all of this boring shit going on between Israel and Hezbollah. Honestly, this is important. I certainly hope that Sydney Blumenthal writes a feature article about this one. You know, I bet George Bush even takes shits. We already know that in many cases he doesn't give a shit.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006 06:18 AM

It's not the words, it's the music

Like Fournier, I can't get worked up by Bush's use of "shit." But what did bother me was that when I heard the audio clip of that conversation, it sounded like George was babbling like a tobacco auctioneer, talking a mile a minute with no real thinking or reflection. Now that worries me.

By the way, you guys forgot the time he stomped out of a White House press conference, went backstage, and shrieked at his handlers that the members of the press were "those motherfuckers." I'm sure he meant it in a Christian sort of way, though.

Butt vs Stomach

Dear Karen Hughes, may be you should try the latter while kissing up. It seems to be healthier. Putin likes it too.

George W. and Profanity

Hughes' comment that she's not heard Bush use "profanity" is not gainsaid by his widely-quoted use of words such as "fuck," "shit," and "asshole." These are arguably obscenity and/or scatology, but profanity requires the misuse of _religious_ words. If Bush has gone about saying "Goddamn" or "Jesus Christ!" then he's been profane. Otherwise, not.

It doesn't suprise me...

that this brain dead retarded cowboy wannabe can't even chew with his mouth closed before talking out of his ass yet again.
