"Everybody likes beaver"

Tom DeLay, celebrity auctioneer.

The letters thread is now closed.

This was in front of his own daughter?

Man, that took a lot of class.

As one of Burr's constituents

I am deeply offended that Sen. Burr failed to stick up for my NC beaver. I am raising money for a campaign ad to draw attention to his poor performance on this issue.

"When Tom Delay impugned NC beaver, Sen. Burr did nothing. We need a representative in Congress who will stand up for NC beaver, not go limp."

Thursday, June 29, 2006 09:34 AM

Did Burr's head explode?

Because he ran on the holiest praise the Lord and Family values, homosexual terrorists are coming to rape all the cattle and steal the women platform, NC has ever seen.

Or is he just a fucking power crazed whore like the rest of NC Republican politics?

Finally something that I agree with that ahole on.

I'm a liberal, not a eunich.

Shaved zebra!

Dude! Shaved zebra! That's beyond awesome. I think we should market that!

In other news... DeLay acting as a celebrity auctioneer. Is it just me, or is that a bit of a downgrade from the House Majority Leader? Probably just me. I mean, celebrity auctioneers, they dictate policy, they do. By his ingenious use of well-placed wit, DeLay probably set the stage for a serious takeover of the House by beavers. No telling what that's going to do to American values, ladies and gentlemen.

Not sure which image is funnier

That DeLay may have said it in front of his daughter or that Burr's head might explode.

A joke's a joke--no offense taken by this dyke. But I hope the joke's on Burr come election day, when another critter will come along: crow.

Funny

So Delay has a sense of humor, so what?

This is a perfect example of why it's sometimes hard for me to want to be in the liberal camp. While I do believe in liberal/progressive values, the snarkiness and bitterness of people such as Tim Grieve can leave me just as angry as anything the Bush Repubs do.

This story isn't news.

Not too much of a change

Free Proton asked:

>> DeLay acting as a celebrity auctioneer. Is it just me, or is that a bit of a downgrade from the House Majority Leader?

Not at all. As House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay got quite good at auctioning off legislation to the highest bidder. He's already sold off our national forests, our national good name, our political process... What's one beaver after all of that?

Thursday, June 29, 2006 10:56 AM

Is it news?

My first reaction to the posting of this seemingly irrelevant story was the same as Benjamin Toll's, but thinking about it further I find it interesting how DeLay may be shedding his old skin as a morally-sound congressman appealing to a religious base for a new one as an amoral lobbyist.

Is this news? I'd say it is by the fact that DeLay is going to remain a powerful behind-the-scenes figure in politics for years to come.

Thursday, June 29, 2006 11:22 AM

Oh, please..

Tom DeLay couldn't recognize a "beaver" if one "bit" him in the ass...

Thursday, June 29, 2006 11:25 AM

No Pussy?

Mr Big C Christian/Conservative was marketing "beaver" only? What - was there no "pussy" to sell? I mean his daughter was there and whe was used to raising money with her daddy in the hot tubs - so I am sure selling a bit of pussy or beaver was a-ok by her.

Why it's news

"So Delay has a sense of humor, so what?

I've watched Tom DeLay give a speech to a group of Christians. He tells them how wonderful and moral all of them are, preaching to them as if he's in a position to, and he tells them that the reason they were put on the planet now is to fight the war against the evil forces abroad (i.e., support the war against Muslims).

The fact that he says this stuff, and that large numbers of people believe it and vote for his party because of it, because they think he's a very moral person, makes it news that 'Hot Tub Tom' - a name going back before he had power - deserves to be exposed in the interest of our nation not continuing to elect his party and wars on false pretenses.

If he did not make his puritan value such a part of his claims, then it would be snarky. But he did.

You have nothing to be embarrassed about being a liberal, because the liberals expose the lies and hypocrisy.

Liberals may not agree with the puritan values, but they are right to expose the deceipt for those who do.

Thursday, June 29, 2006 12:04 PM

Correction

I should have said, 'many liberals may not agree with the puritan values...'.

There's plenty of room in the liberal tent for people with pretty puritan values, too, IMO.

Sound the Alarms...We've Lost Another Fake Liberal

This story isn't news.?

So another Republican has proven that the message he peddles during campaign season is the exact opposite of his true beliefs, and he was merely putting on an act to get your vote and fuck you after he got elected.

You call that news?

Tim Grieve isn't bitter, he's just another "fair-minded" guy who puts a star next to someones letter just to illustrate the point that he can take criticism. That's what I hate about fellow liberals.

Thursday, June 29, 2006 12:41 PM

What about the beaver dammit!?

Just a minute people. We're all getting in a snit or a counter-snit because DeLay made a joke or two about "beaver". Well never mind the the innuendo, what about the poor fucking animal that donated the pelt? What sort of wackjob organisation is this Safari Club? I would bet my next "beaver" encounter they aren't the sort of people who go to Africa to sneak up on animals and take their photograph.

I am with Anonymous

Burr is a moron. I've been known to stand up for NC beaver in the past. Some of it is the finest in the country...

Thursday, June 29, 2006 02:25 PM

News flash....

Republicans make jokes about sex, too.

We are replete with stories of DeLay's double standards of "morals". Call it what it was -- a bad joke -- and move on.

P.S. - I heard that the Vice President's name is Dick. Heh, Dick.
